Back to a smaller slate tonight only seven games and one of them has a good amount of RAIN risk in it that we’ll want to monitor.
UPDATE: As I sit here just casually minding my own business I got about 10 notifications that the entire Astros team has been placed on the IL. COVID I assume, that or they all have been abducted by aliens and sent to another planet as their punishment for their crimes on Baseball. None the less. Cross em all off…
WEATHER
Seattle at Baltimore – Rain most of the day here. I think they can get it in but worst case they PPD it before lock. The one thing that could keep the game on schedule is that it’s a west coast team who may not have an open window to make it up in. But either way, I am not thrilled with the hitting or pitching enough to go all in on this game if it does play. But there’s obvious lead off values in Haniger and Mullins that we have to like.
CHARLIE MORTON (DK: $7,600 / FD: $8,500)
Let’s watch everyone flock to the Marlins as the play after having two really productive days offensively. The Braves are in desperate need of a quality start to spare their bullpen right now and nobody on this team is fit to do that more than the veteran Charlie Morton. With all the strikeout aces going last night we have a lighter slate on pitching choices today, which favors getting someone like Morton into our lineups as an anchor SP1.
LANCE McCULLERS (DK: $9,900 / FD: $9,500)
Lance has been really good historically in home games and will face last nights stack of the night — Detroit — in a spot where the Astros also desperately need a quality start. When he is on his breaking pitch is getting lots of swing and misses, so we have to expect him to have some success against a happy swinging Tigers lineup.
JON GRAY
I cannot stand Dustin May and he should be chalky tonight against a really bad Colorado team — but his price does not warrant what you’ll get out of May in this spot. Gray has been terrific in his two starts so far and we’ve seen this type of talent from him before. When he is on, he is reliable and would make a really good mid range SP2 tonight as a contrarian play vs the chalky Dodgers.
This is a slate that is really bare on hitting today and all the ownership should drift to the Dodgers, Mariners, Astros and Braves none of whom I am in love with today.
RAYS
Meadows, Arozarena, Lowe, Diaz
Nothing about Kohei Arihara has shown much to say don’t pick on him and the Rays are next up on the list to attack the former Japanese pitcher. Tampa doesn’t offer the HR upside that many seek in DFS stacking but this slate is not one to be searching for HR upside across the board in your stacks. Look for spots to keep the line moving and Meadows-Randy-Yandy Diaz provide that the most here.
BRAVES
Ronald Acuna, Ozzie Albies, Travis d’Arnaud, Marcell Ozuna
Simply put, until they stop being an automatic 4-5 runs every game at home, we must continue to look at the Braves. Two guys are ice cold – Dansby Swanson and Austin Riley – and when they get going then you can look out for huge games. Marlins pen is not a great one either and so with this game going in favor of the Braves we can expect a nice 7-2 win tonight for Atlanta powered by Travis d’Arnaud, Marcell Ozuna and someone I love down in the order — Ozzie Albies.
FAVORITE GAME STACK
Phillies vs Mets
Somehow, some way this game is going to go over and it’s not one that you would normally look at and load up on but with a weak hitting slate I can see it getting there. Phillies have the heavier side to lean on from Met killer Rhys Hoskins to Realmuto, Bohm and Harper they have the bats to do HR damage. The Met to own is Michael Conforto if he is back in the lineup after getting drilled by the Phillies. There’s a big beef growing here.
