There are just five games on this quiet Thursday evening and while I cannot say that we have warm weather anywhere I can assure you that no games will be PPD due to weather tonight.
WALKER BUEHLER
The Padres are not a great offense right now but their last solid outing came a week ago against Buehler. However, that was back in PETCO park and if I liked Walker B in the big spot then, then I’m surely going to trust him on a short slate tonight given how quiet San Diego’s bats have gone. Not expecting a 30 point performance tonight from Buehler, but he’s the best play on the board and his slow start is going to adjust back to the positive territory over the next few starts.
AARON SANCHEZ
I doubt Sanchez will burn us either way tonight and if there were more choices to consider he wouldn’t be anywhere near this article. Miami will roll out mostly RH hitters which should help Sanchez get to a 6 strikeout number if he can manage to not walk too many guys.
JUSTIN DUNN
I am of the belief that Nick Pivetta has been a bit lucky this year and his XSLG and raw ISO numbers back it up as he’s been fortunate this far and is not a chalk pitcher I want to trust. So leverage play going with Dunn who has been good so far in limited work this season. He’s been around 28% CSW% which should help offset a less than positive strikeout lineup with the Red Sox have. It’s cool in Fenway and so I do expect this game to be lower scoring, but given the choice I’ll take Dunn for the upset over Pivetta
ANGELS
#AlwaysAngels gets the Angels on a short slate at pretty low ownership considering the slate also features the Mariners, Giants, Marlins, Cubs and Padres. Not exactly murders row of teams out there tonight and Ohtani/Trout combination gets overlooked while everyone else is on the Houston side of this game.
METS
Trevor Williams gets hit hard by RH bats and combined with the wind blowing out we should see Pete Alonso go yard again tonight. I can see the Mets piling things on the Cubs bullpen as well if they can drive Williams out of the game before the end of the 5th.
ASTROS
Alex Cobb comes into Houston and he’s the main pitcher to target for HR upside tonight. The Astros do not strike out that often (lowest going tonight) and so Cobb’s going to wind up having to live with the ball in play a lot and when he leaves it in play, it usually results in a couple homers.
