The Dongers Club – September 17th

We got ourselves a full 15 gamer this Friday as the regular season winds down including Luis Castillo at home on a Friday against Walker Buehler on the road on a Friday (same game).

WEATHER

I do not see any weather issues tonight but always check back closer to the game times to be certain right now.

Logan Webb

Not many pitchers are throwing better than Webb over the last month who also isn’t getting overworked since he is so efficient and can keep his pitch count under 100 while still giving 7 strong innings.

Chris Sale

We’re gonna see a flashback to dominant Sale this evening.  Baltimore comes into Fenway which has been a good spot for them but right now I see Boston about to get white hot and Sale should rebound from a tough outing against the Rays over a week ago.   Yes, he will still be limited a little bit, but with 85 pitches Sale can still generate 7 strikeouts against the Orioles and finish as one of the top reliable pitchers tonight.  Boston needs a win, which matters greatly this time of year when deciding on pitchers.

Cole Irvin

I haven’t been a fan of Irvin much this season but the Angels are returning home after a lengthy road trip and have not been hitting LHP very well of late.  Ohtani is TBD as to whether he hits tonight as well and by hits I mean he would just walk 4 times.  The Angels lineup is bad and has long mailed it in.  Irvin should get through tonight with another good start.

Boston Red Sox

JD, Renfroe, Xander, Devers

Boston had an off day yesterday to get back home, get back to the time-zone change and prepare to go out and get hot against Baltimore this weekend.  They’re going to go off in my opinion and seeing Keegan Akin should only help matters.

LA Dodgers

Turner, Muncy, Seager, Bellinger

There aren’t a ton of scenarios where good offensive teams are going into fantastic ballparks, but we have one here with the Dodgers against the ole Hyeena himself, Luis Castillo at home on a Friday night.  Prepare for the Dodgers to just go nuclear as long as they have their heads in the game and aren’t trying to go out on the town in … uh, Cincinnati?  Yeah, they’ll hammer the Reds who are choking away any thoughts of making the playoffs.

Other Teams To Consider

  • Chicago White Sox (Abreu, Moncada)
  • Oakland Athletics (Olson)
  • Toronto vs Minnesota – On paper this game should have lots of fireworks and offense in it, but I am going with Boston/Dodgers for my main lineup tonight.  Don’t overlook Minnesota if you buy into this game.

CATCHER

  1. Salvador Perez … The Mariners couldn’t get him out in Seattle, lets see what they do in KC
  2. Will Smith … Great park for Smith.
  3. Roberto Perez … Facing his former SP Corey Kluber

FIRST BASE

  1. Jose Abreu
  2. Albert Pujols … Not sure if he will get the start tonight vs RHP Castillo (probably wont) but he has 20 career HR in ~73 games in Cincinnati.  So make note of that all weekend and do with it what you will.  If he sits, then take Muncy here.
  3. Max Muncy
  4. Matt Olson – Best high $ pivot off Muncy would be Olson.  But I honestly dont think Muncy will be ‘heavy’ chalk so not as much leverage as we would normally like.

SECOND BASE

  1. Trea Turner
  2. thats it…
  3. thats the list ….

THIRD BASE

  1. Rafael Devers
  2. Manny Machado
  3. Yoan Moncada

SHORTSTOP

  1. Xander Bogaerts
  2. Corey Seager
  3. Trevor Story

OUTFIELD – Tier 1

  1. JD Martinez
  2. Hunter Renfroe
  3. Cody Bellinger
  4. Mookie Betts

OUTFIELD – Tier 2

  1. Kike Hernandez
  2. Thomas Pham

OUTFIELD – Value

  1. Dylan Carlson
  2. Jesus Sanchez
  3. Chris Taylor

  1. JD Martinez – OF – Red Sox – Chairman of the Dongers Club
  2. Roberto Perez – C – Indians
  3. Yoan Moncada – 3B – White Sox
  4. Max Muncy – 1B – Dodgers
  5. Trea Turner – 2B – Dodgers
  6. Xander Bogaerts – SS – Red Sox
