Let’s Talk
It’s become commonplace in DFS now and it’s a term that’s frequently thrown around. “Stack” or “Stacking” is heavily referenced whenever you hear “experts” talking about winning in DFS. Let me make one thing clear. First of all, I’m no expert and second of all stacking isn’t the only way to win. Stacking is a very boom or bust proposition more often than not but it isn’t the end all be all. There needs to be a purpose when stacking. We’re not just going into contests and blindly stacking teams for unrealistic, farfetched potential correlation plays, they have to make sense.
This is my breakdown as part of a regular series of articles I’ll produce every week of the NFL season and it will break down what stacks I’m looking to build around in GPP contests for that particular week. Some weeks I’ll dive into four or five stacks but others there could only be two or three I have my eye on. Remember, there’s no sense in stacking just because you heard it repeated 87 times on the radio.
Stacks That I Have My Eye On
Below I’ll break down the particular stacks I’m interested and delve into it based on matchup, ability, predicted game script, and collective salary while picking an opposing player or two to run that stack back with if appropriate.
*Note: All pricing is DraftKings focused
Seattle Seahawks (vs Titans)

QB Russel Wilson, WR Tyler Lockett, WR D.K. Metcalf
Run it Back: WR A.J. Brown
A game that features two former college beasts in D.K. Metcalf and A.J. Brown leans to the edge of the Seahawks for the full team stack. Seattle has more trust in running their offense through Russell Wilson instead of relying upon the running game like the Titans can do with Derrick Henry at times and we know Russell Wilson has the arm to turn in some big touchdown plays to his top two dynamic receivers.
Stack Projected DK Ownership: Our model has this stack projected at an average of 5.8% which makes it an optimal build for all contest formats.
Dallas Cowboys (vs Chargers)
QB Dak Prescott, WR CeeDee Lamb, WR Amari Cooper
Run it Back: WR Mike Williams
This is going to be one of the more popular game builds of the day. Prescott, Cooper and Lamb are all projected to score 20+ points with ownership in the double digits. Dallas is likely to be in a game script scenario that has them trailing so the passing volume as well as the ability for Dak to run makes this the preferred side.
Stack Projected DK Ownership: 10-15%, which makes this a good 3 entry max stack as your chalk build.
Arizona Cardinals (vs Vikings)
QB Kyler Murray, WR DeAndre Hopkins, WR Rondale Moore
Run it Back: WR Justin Jefferson
All Kyler Murray did in week one was go 21-32 for 289 yards and 20 yards rushing. He was much more dynamic at running the football at home in 2020 and I can definitely see Murray finishing this game with a rushing touchdown and passing touchdowns to both Hopkins and Moore who are going to be match-ed up with a subpar Vikings secondary. Minnesota yielded Joe Burrow to complete 74.1% of his passes in week one which should bode well for high reception targets like Hopkins and Moore.
Stack Projected DK Ownership: 6-8%, this is another ideal 3 entry max type stack
L.A Rams (vs Colts)
QB Matthew Stafford, WR Cooper Kupp, WR Robert Woods
Run it Back: WR Zach Pascal

Matthew Stafford’s debut in a Rams uniform went about as well as expected. He’s getting another game in a domed stadium and a chance to pick on a very depleted Colts secondary that is potentially playing with Rock-Ya Sin and T.J. Carrie at cornerback.
Stack Projected DK Ownership: 8-10%. This is a stack that has projected ownership lopsided on the Rams side with Zach Pascal being the recommended run it back option from the Ambush model with 1% projection. This is a good build to roll out in larger field tournaments as well as the 1PM early only slate as it is a very affordable build for just $22,500 of your DK salary.
Good Luck!
