NFL DFS: The Sunday Stacks – Week 7

Let’s Talk

It’s become commonplace in DFS now and it’s a term that’s frequently thrown around. “Stack” or “Stacking” is heavily referenced whenever you hear “experts” talking about winning in DFS. Let me make one thing clear. First of all, I’m no expert and second of all stacking isn’t the only way to win. Stacking is a very boom or bust proposition more often than not but it isn’t the end all be all. There needs to be a purpose when stacking. We’re not just going into contests and blindly stacking teams for unrealistic, farfetched potential correlation plays, they have to make sense. This is my breakdown as part of a regular series of articles I’ll produce every week of the NFL season and it will break down what stacks I’m looking to build around in GPP contests for that particular week. Some weeks I’ll dive into four or five stacks but others there could only be two or three I have my eye on. Remember, there’s no sense in stacking just because you heard it repeated 87 times on the radio.

Stacks That I Have My Eye On

Below I’ll break down the particular stacks I’m interested and delve into it based on matchup, ability, predicted game script, and collective salary while picking an opposing player or two to run that stack back with if appropriate. *Note: All pricing is DraftKings focused

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (vs. Chicago Bears)

QB Tom Brady, WR Chris Godwin, RB Leonard Fournette Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin signs franchise tag - Bucs Nation If this game goes according to the script I expect it to then Tom Brady will throw for a shit ton of yards and some touchdowns early while Fournette gets a good chunk of work in the second half while the Bucs have a sizeable lead. Even still, remember that stat I threw out a couple of weeks ago when the Bucs were playing the Dolphins? The stat stated that in games over his career where Brady was a seven-point or more favorite in a game with a total of 48 or higher he’s AVERAGED 350 passing yards and four touchdowns in those games. Brady proceeded to go for over 400 yards and five touchdowns against Miami. With Antonio Brown out I see Chris Godwin being the biggest beneficiary and he’s priced favorably at $5,900. The Bears have been susceptible in the passing game and I don’t expect that to change anytime soon. Fournette has taken over this backfield and even with Gio Bernard active last week, Fournette saw six targets for six receptions to go along with his 22 carries. The Bucs should feast here and the skill position players are not overly expensive, specifically Fournette and Brown who are both in the low to mid 6K range. Run it back: Allen Robinson If this ain’t the week then it ain’t gonna happen this season. Robinson has perhaps the best matchup and script for him this season – a Bucs secondary that is in shambles in a game that the Bears should be trailing in. If you want to tell me that Darnell Mooney is the play I won’t agrue with you, but for me it’s Robinson who I can’t see continuing with these lackluster efforts.

Green Bay Packers (vs. Washington Football Team)

QB Aaron Rodgers, WR Davante Adams, WR Allen Lazard See the source image Washington’s defense continues to disappoint, at least against the pass. Against the run they’ve been formidable as they head to Green Bay to face one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. Rodgers to Adams is not going to be sneaky in my opinion just because of how BRUTAL the WFT pass d has been. The third leg of this stack for me is Allen Lazard who saw five targets – the most he’s seen all season. Adams was quiet last week with just four receptions for 89 yards – his lowest reception total of the season. The WFT defense has allowed at least 29 DK points to quarterbacks in four of their last five games (last week they allowed 27.98 to Mahomes). This is an over 300-yard game with two to three touchdowns for Rodgers. Run it back: WR Terry McLaurin Will Jaier Alexander still out McLaurin will have an advantage with whichever cornerback he sees in coverage. Scary Terry saw eight targets last week but just hauled in four receptions in what was a down week for him. Still nursing an injury and based on his poor effort last week I don’t expect anyone to play him but I do expect the production to be there because if Washington wants to stay competitive in the hostile territory of Green Bay they’re going to need to get him involved. McLaurin has seen the eighth-highest target share, second-most deep targets, and third-most air yards of any receiver in the league.

Atlanta Falcons (at Miami Dolphins)

QB Matt Ryan, RB Cordarelle Patterson, WR Calvin Ridley See the source image Ryan and the Falcons travel to South Beach to take on the Miami Dolphins who just lost a heartbreaker in London to the Jaguars last week. Ryan’s pass volume has been plentiful this season, specifically over his last two games with 45 and 42 attempts respectively with 342, 283, and 242 passing yards in his last three contests with an 8:0 touchdown to interceptions ratio. Patterson has been used as a swiss army knife and is coming off a 14 carry, seven reception game against the Jets. Ridley missed the game in London is cheaper than he’s been in any game this season priced at $6,600. Ridley has seen double-digit targets in his last three games played and that should be the case in this matchup against a banged-up Dolphins secondary. Run it back: WR Jaylen Waddle With Tua back last week and a group of unreliable pass-catchers Waddle was targeted heavily (13 times) resulting in 10 receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns. Both of Waddle’s touchdowns came in the red zone which is promising and he’s a big-time deep threat lining up primarily out of the slot. Also consider: Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, RB Darrell Williams, TE Travis Kelce Run it back: WR A.J. Brown Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford, RB Darrell Henderson, WE Cooper Kupp Run it back: RB D’Andre Swift Good Luck!!
