We Ambushed them last night and now DraftKings has contest selection that makes the KBO prize pools look huge.  What is this nonsense?  Granted, we do have a TON of smaller schools playing today but still this is quite the weird slate for them to roll out.

UCLA is hosting Long Beach State and neither team has played in over 3 weeks.  UCLA obviously is far more talented, but I cannot envision guys getting max minutes tonight.

Middle Tennessee State vs Rice

With the mid majors on this slate we are given the gift of lower prices on players who should be able to hit 5x or more without too much difficulty.  This game should have a decent tempo with two below average defenses, so look for a good amount of scoring and 3 point shooting bonuses in this game.

Because of the low prices on Middle Tennessee State you can break my rule of playing 3 players from a single team, but its gotta be at the benefit of locking in a few studs elsewhere.

SMU vs Cincinnati

Giddy up, this should be our contrarian game tonight.  Close game with a nice tempo and two stars going at it all night in Kendric Davis and Jeremiah Davenport.

However the player who I think has to thrive here is David DeJulius.  He is a good 3PT shooter who when he gets the minutes should have decent assists and rebounds as well.  If this game is going to go off it’s going to feature DDJ and Davenport both hitting 30+ for Cincinnati.

Louisiana Tech vs UTEP

This is very much a STUDS and DUDS slate and the core plays will be coming from High and Low end tiers rather than the middle end like last night.  

High End – $7,000 and up

G – Johnny Davis – Wisconsin – 9000

Davis has arguably been the best player in all of College Basketball this season when you factor in the opponents he has had big games against.  He just carried Wisconsin to a road upset over Purdue and now will get the glory of facing Iowa who only knows how to play fast.  It’s hard to imagine Davis not topping off for another 40 point effort tonight so long as Wisconsin lets Iowa stay within 20 points of them.

Next best:

G – Brad Davison – Wisconsin … Equal to Davis in terms of getting a boost up but also $1700 cheaper and certainly expected to produce a raw score lower.  But he’s a good PT/$ play here too

G – David DeJulius – Cincinnati … Not a CORE/Cash game type play, but if you are invested in this game he is a CORE in an SMU/Cincy game stack.

F – Branden Carlson – Utah … Carlson might find his way into my main lineup.  Bigs have done well against Washington and he should easily have 16 & 10 tonight which makes him a really nice play at this price ($7300)

His near min price point makes him grade out extremely well tonight.  We’re basically looking at locking in any 2 of the MTSU value guys and then moving on.  Sims recenet floor is 10 and his ceiling is 37.  For 3900 that is a very comfortable window to fall within.

G – Josh Jefferson – MTSU – 5000

Jeferson has good recent form with 24 PPG over his last three and averages 6 three point attempts per game.  This is a game that should feature lots of possessions with average defenses and his usage and shot rates should get us to 5x return.

G – Eli Lawrence – MTSU – 4200

We will want to jam in two MTSU value plays tonight.  Lawrence and/or Dishman should be the compliment with Jefferson.

G – Daejon Davis – Washington – 4200 … Has hit 5x in 3 of his last 4 games and plays 73% of the mins

I have a belief that in college if you are a physically dominant big man you should dominate in college if you have any talent at all.  Well, Kofi is that guy and right now he is doing what he should as the true Alpha on this team.  Maryland has zero chance of stopping him as Wahab is sure to foul out in the first five minutes tonight.  His usage on the season is 30% and has jumped lately even higher.  Again, Maryland has nothing to stop him inside because Wahab although strong is likely to commit early fouls here.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Build around the value between MTSU and Daejon Davis tonight and the STUDS to anchor a lineup.  Tonight’s contrarian build would be going down the middle but if you do that it should be the SMU/Cincy game stack.

If the contests were better I would say its a great 3 entry max lineup kind of night.
