CBB DFS: The ONIONS – March 10th (Early)

This is just a MASSIVE afternoon slate today.  Love it, but the contest selection is a little weak to be honest with you.  I mean, are you people honestly working today?  What the hell is wrong with you?

Let’s go.

Pay Up Studs

It’s not that this tier is bad, but it’s just not as great as the mid range spot.  That said, we have an obvious value chalk play or two down in the lower end so finding one stud to lock in today is logical.

Jabari Walker – Colorado – 8200

Walker’s the anchor for the Buffaloes with a 38% rebounding rate which he’ll almost certainly utilize today on his way to a double double and a high 30’s output.  His two games vs the Ducks this season resulted in 24 & 11 and 11 & 12 outputs with the second game being one where Colorado just shot poorly.

Chalk I like:

  • Quenton Jackson – Aggies – 7300
  • Paolo Banchero – Duke – 8800

Contrarian:

  • Makai Ashton-Langford – BC – 7100
  • Taz Sherman – West Virginia – 7000

Fades:

  • Keegan Murray, Colin Castleton, Jared Bynum

Middle Range

This is a loaded section today and this is what generally will win you tournaments.

Isaiah Wong – Miami – 6400

Wong went off against Boston College last time out and should line up to have another strong game today.

Xavier Pinson – LSU – 6500

You want what everyone defines as a “safe” or “cash” or “easy” play?  It has to be Pinson going up against Missouri in the SEC Tournament on a Thursday afternoon my friends.  Don’t love the offense in this game but he is a fine one off.

Chalk I like:

  • Jacob Young – Oregon – 6700 (Quincy Guerrier also once again solid at $5900)
  • Quinten Post – Boston College – 5900
  • Charlie Moore – Miami – 6700
  • David McCormack – Kansas – 6800
  • Jordan Miller – Miami – 6100

Contrarian:

  • Chase Audige – Northwestern – 6400
  • Bryce Nze – Butler – 6300 … Solid recent stretch and a big game yesterday from him and Chucky Harris.
  • Kris Murray – Iowa – 6100

Sub 5500 Value

Symir Torrence – Syracuse – 3000

In the blowout yesterday Torrence found himself loggin2 9 minutes and putting up a pt/min.  With Buddy out due to Coach K suspending him we’ll likely see him as a highly owned punt play who should be more than fine in all formats.

Other:

  • Dajuan Harris – Kansas – 5000
  • Tony Perkins – Iowa – 5100
  • Chuck Harris – Butler – 4800

Boston College vs Miami (FL)

My Clemson sleeper pick in the ACC got busted by a buzzer beater, but we’re seeing Boston College become that team which makes a run out of nowhere.  This should be a fantastic game today as both teams guards are going to just ball hog most of the game.  That said, Quinten Post has a ridiculously good matchup in … the post … against Miami and at $5900 he’s gotta be on the BC stack with MAL.

I picked the safe floor guys in Moore and Miller from Miami, however McGusty and Wong are certainly viable as well.  One of them will hit 3 or 4 three’s today and based off recent form it’s likely Wong.

  • Boston College:  Makai Ashton-Langford, Quinten Post
  • Miami (FL):  Charlie Moore, Jordan Miller/Isaiah Wong

Marquette vs Creighton

Last meeting between these two had 165 points in it.  Likely not getting there today, but a 150 target is definitely in play with Marquette involved.

  • Marquette:    Justin Lewis, Greg Elliott
  • Creighton:    Ryan Kalkbrenner

Oregon vs Colorado

This game has that ‘it’ factor when I stare at the teams.  Personally I think that Oregon is lucky to be here at this stage and overall the Pac-12 is worse defensively this season than what the eye perceives.  So Colorado’s 48th ranked D isn’t much.  Anywho, the game just jumps out as one you gotta have something in.

  • Oregon:   Jacob Young, Quincy Guerrier
  • Colorado:   Jabari Walker, KJ Simpson

The Onions! play is my favorite play on the slate to have a 6x or better game.

Quenton Jackson – Texas A&M

In the SEC tournament I am leaning on some unders and as you can see above no game stacks.  That doesn’t mean I won’t jump on Quenton Jackson who has shown massive upside all season long.
