Not gonna sugar coat it, rough day 1 for me although the Richmond Upset win was extra special. Otherwise the DFS results just weren’t there and the BETS were inconsistent — although San Francisco almost winning would have been a huge way to end the day.
But looking back at the games I was on there is some encouraging takeaways and now we have a Friday to get drunk and win it all back.
Games which we are going to cross off …
Montana State vs Texas Tech
Virginia Tech vs Texas – Should be a good game, but a snails paced one. The love affair folks have right now with the Hokies is hilarious. They ran through a crappy conference on their way to an ACC title over the frauds that are Duke. Texas should control the game but Texas doesn’t blow them out.
Loyola-Illinois vs Ohio State
Jacksonville State vs Auburn
TCU vs Seton Hall
Notre Dame vs Alabama
I can argue that neither team really belongs here, but they are here and they are going to be running and gunning. The Irish players should be popular as they are severely underpriced.
- ND: Blake Wesley, Paul Atkinson
- Bama: Jahvon Quinerly
Miami vs USC
Back to the Miami game stack well and USC should on paper tear them up on the boards, but look for my boy Jordan Miller to shine once again playing a big role in simply being a smarter rebounder.
- Miami: Charlie Moore, Jordan Miller
- USC: Isaiah Mobley, Boogie Ellis
Wright State vs Arizona
The Raiders and Wildcats…. The Raiders (Wright State in case you … uh, didn’t know?) are gonna be a trendy team today getting a big pace boost, being fairly cheap and having a four man CORE that does all the damage. Everyone saw the Holden show on Wednesday and while he grades out well I think this is a game Grant Basile has to get a boost in for them. Arizona will win easily, or so that’s what we said about a couple games yesterday too.
- Wright: Grant Basile, Trey Calvin
- Arizona: Bennedict Mathurin, Justin Kier
Iowa State vs LSU
After firing Will Wade for good reason the LSU Tigers are now either gonna come out and play like total ass or play loose. If they do play loose look out this is gonna be 85-80 final score and we’ll want to be invested in it.
- Izaiah Brockington
- Xavier Pinson

High End ($$$)
Bennedict Mathurin – Arizona
Wright State is such a good draw that I would not be shocked to see Bennedict drop a 30 spot on them and at $7800 you can afford him very easily.
Jordan Walker – UAB … This game has sneaky shootout potential.
Isaiah Mobley – USC … Game stack mostly
Zach Edey – Purdue … The biggest guy that Yale has who could play is EJ Jarvis at 6-8. So who the hell is gonna slow down Edey besides Purdue slowing himdown themselves?
Tari Eason – LSU
Kofi Cockburn – Illinois
Mid Range ($$)
Blake Wesley – Notre Dame – $6,000
Turn up Wesley, it’s time to shine. This is arguably the most talented player in this game but they gotta let him control things. The inside play of Paul Atkinson is going to favor Notre Dame vs Alabama which also opens things up for Wesley to thrive. He’s just too cheap.
Jordan Miller – Miami
Paul Atkinson – Notre Dame
Jahvon Quinerly – Alabama
Hyun-Jung Lee – Davidson
Azar Swain – Yale … Pay up for the top guy on Yale IMO. He averaged 33 MPG and 6+ attempts from 3pt range which is a way to exploit Purdue.
Malachi Smith – Chattanooga
Value Range ($)
AJ Hoggard – Mich St
Davidson has not defended point guards all season long and if Hoggard was 6k I would still consider him even on limited minutes. This game will be close and should have offense. Correlate him with Hyun-Jung Lee from Davidson in a mini stack.
Nelly Cummings – Colgate
Trey Calvin – Wright State
Andre Curabello – Illinois … I really dont want to have to trust the Illinois Guards but for 5k Curbello has a chance to drop 20-25 and be a nice value.
Ryan Moffatt – Colgate
Justin Kier – Arizona
[spacer height=”20px”]
The Onions! play is my favorite play on the slate to have a 6x or better game.
Jordan Miller – Miami
Will the game be close? I absolutely believe it will be, and with that comes Miller doing his thing in rebounds, steals, blocks, etc.
