Our resident Golf Expert, Mark Farris is out for this week unfortunately but he did send in some notes and using our Projections Model we have some recommended plays for the US Open Tournament this weekend.
The U.S. Open will take place at The Country Club in Brookline Mass. Personally as a GOLFER I think any course that calls itself “The Country Club” is a lame ass course but hey, here we are and some of my favorite golf was up in Eastern Massachusetts so the course definitely is one I wouldn’t talk too bad about despite the boring name.
This is the first return to Brookline since 1988 so any prior US Open history references here are irrelevant. I did see some videos last week talking about the rough depth here and it looked absolutely ridiculous but I don’t think that does anything more than lead us to a weekend where the top scores are right around even — which is how I like a U.S. Open to be.
So while you won’t get a full PGA DFS breakdown as normal, we are still doing recommend picks to Ambush the competition this weekend. I am breaking these down into the recommended plays from within four different price tiers.

TIER 1: 9k and Above
Rory McIlroy – $10,500
So we have a little narrative here as the PGA vs LIV tour guys are going at it and Rory has been very vocal against the LIV start-up tour and won last weeks RBC. He is going to be popular overall and looks to grade out well statistically to certainly justify being in contention through the weekend.
Patrick Cantlay – $9,200
He is the highest ranked golfer without a Major Victory and he finished T15 at last year’s US Open and comes in with strong recent form this year.
MY FAVORITE PLAY
Jon Rahm – $10,800
Rahm is great off the tee and it looks like this course is going to require some length which is what he brings to the table. Another guy who was taking some shots at the LIV tour guys but I think he’s just being ignored too much as the US Open defending champ.

Young is coming in with a top-3 finish in three of his last four starts, while also ranking in the top 10 in overall driving.

This is always the spot in PGA DFS Golf where it feels like eating chalk kills me, so I want no chalk player in this group and have prioritized putting and off the tee accuracy.
