The Dongers Club – July 29th

Time to settle in to enjoy a Friday Night MLB DFS slate with 13 games.

WEATHER

Cardinals at Nationals – The return of Goldy and Nolan have brought some storms into the DC area, it could get ugly all day and with the Nationals history they are very likely to be a risk of PPD this game.  From a pitching standpoint, Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas is worthy of considering in a clean weather game, but not with some weather risks.

Royals at Yankees – Looks like a very low rain risk

Diamondbacks at Braves – Similar here, some storms could delay the start.

ALEK MANOAH

Detroit has the second highest K% just in comparison to the split of the SP they are facing today on this slate and a really low walk rate.  Without a ton of lefty power in this lineup either Manoah gets a good spot for him to excel so long as he has his mental focus.

We should know in the first two innings if he is going to ball out or be annoying tonight but the spot is very ideal for a great game.

MARTIN PEREZ

The rumor was that the Angels would be resting Ohtani tonight to give him a rare day off after he pitched last night.  With the lefty on the bump for Texas there’s some logic to them doing that, although it just means that Perez can likely pitch around Taylor Ward without anybody on base.

Angels suck in general but the Angels really suck vs LHP.

LANCE LYNN

The second half of the MLB season often brings us odd winning streaks for bad teams.  Oakland has won 7 of their last 10 overall and just swept the Astros so they fit into that category and face a shitty team as well tonight in the White Sox.

But Lynn is once again back to dominating RHB and being mediocre vs lefties, so that’s where we look first and with just Seth Brown grading out well for the Athletics Lynn can give us 100+ pitches tonight for a good start.  He’s pretty cheap on DK too so he is likely a chalky decision to decide upon for your SP2 and I am very comfortable with it.

Arizona Diamondbacks

Oh Gitu GIFs - Get the best GIF on GIPHYI hope everyone reading this article doesn’t make the Wrong decision at pitcher tonight.  The D’backs with all their low ball lefties are coming to face Mr. Kyle Wright in a muggy Atlanta on a late July night.  Welcome to that part of the season when Arizona goes out and scores 12 runs on the road.

Happy Falconing night.

  • Ketel Marte
  • Alek Thomas
  • David Peralta

Milwaukee Brewers

Unfortunately the Red Sox will be making Bello available only out of the pen.  I believe that he is going to be better about controlling his walks but he is going to serve up 2 HR if he does come in out of the pen.

Either way, it’s warm again in this hitter friendly spot and the Brewers should be able to have a good offensive series.

  • Willy Adames
  • Luis Urias
  • Christian Yelich

Minnesota Twins

The park isn’t exactly a hitters paradise but it’s not terrible and even though Blake Snell pitches better at home, he is the kind of profile that we like to pick on with the Twins.

It’s not so much Buxton and Correa who are the “bangers” tonight though.  Urshela, Polanco, Jose Miranda, Kyle Garlick.  They’re all cheap and they’re all very good pivots off the cheap Dodgers tonight on DK.

  • Gio Urshela
  • Jorge Polanco
  • Jose Miranda
  • Byron Buxton

The Chalk Teams

Dodgers, Yankees, Braves and Blue Jays …

Look to shop around here with Toronto being the most likely to pay off at their prices.  Yeah the Dodgers have dirt cheap guys but I prefer a Minnesota pivot off some of those bozo’s even though this is a great night for Jake Lamb to homer if he is gonna ever do that again.

CATCHER

Terrible spot today.  Realmuto will be back in the Phillies lineup and he has been the best catcher of late.  He is my top play here, while Knizner is the best value catcher on the board and Carson Kelly is my contrarian call tonight as Arizona hits Wright enough to consider them.

  1. Carson Kelly
  2. JT Realmuto
  3. Andrew Knizner

  3. Jorge Polanco

[spacer height=”10px”]

THIRD BASE

  1. Hi…. My name is Nolan….. Nolan Arenado.  They did not let me play Baseball in Canada.  So I am going to take it out on the team who used to play in Canada.  It’s not personal….   Actually…..  Yes, it is.

SHORTSTOP

  1. Willy Adames
  2. Jeremy Pena – Hope he hits 2nd, would be a CORE play if he does.
  3. Tim Anderson

[spacer height=”10px”]

OUTFIELD – Mt. Rushmore

  1. Hunter Renfroe
  2. Nick Castellanos – Leave it to Castellanos to suddenly “get hot” vs the damn Pirates.  It’s no wonder he had a great season with the Reds when he could just hit singles and doubles vs the Pirates all the time.
  3. Byron Buxton (FD Price is very nice)
  4. Alek Thomas

[spacer height=”10px”]

OUTFIELD – Tier 2

  1. David Peralta
  2. Tyler O’Neill
  3. Christian Yelich
  4. Ronald Acuna Jr

[spacer height=”10px”]

OUTFIELD – Value

  1. David Peralta
  2. Kyle Garlick
