The Dongers Club – Aug 19th

We have ourselves a glorious Friday slate of Baseball, which has a game already going in Wrigleyville as the Brewers and Cubs play the Ryan Braun tribute game.  Yes, Ryan Braun could probably suit up today and hit a homer on a Friday afternoon in Wrigley Field.

Tonight we have some good divisional battles like Mets-Phillies, Jays-Yankees and White Sox-Indians.  We have the return of Goldy and Nado to Chase Field, we have the return of Mike Trout and we have Ohtani on the road on Friday’s.

Of course, Ohtani is like 6400 on DraftKings, slightly more than Jon Berti who is 5100 vs the Dodgers and way more than Mike Yasztremski and Joc Pederson who are … facing Jose Urena in Coors.  Well done DraftKings, you bozo’s.

WEATHER

I see no issues.

BRADY SINGER

I know where Leesburg, VA is but Brady Singer is from Leesburg, FL and supposedly that’s near the Orlando area not too far from Tampa.  I’m sure it’s nice and all that and so we have Singer going to his home state and also where he played college ball.  With the way he is pitching and the Rays likely being morons and playing a bunch of lefties here we should expect him to have a similar dominant game like he did last time vs Tampa.

BLAKE SNELL

Don’t look now, but how about this, the younger Nationals without Soto and Josh Bell are quickly climbing up the strikeout rankings and have a 27% strike out rate over the last 10 days.  Couple that with Snell being good vs RHB this season at home and having a 24% DCPA strike out rate vs their projected lineup and we can trust this turd nugget at home in PETCO tonight.

KEVIN GAUSMAN

Very curious to see if an under priced Gausman at 8200 on DK is popular today vs the dead man walking Yankees.  There’s certainly risk in the law of averages/due theory with the Yankees finally going off early in a game, but with the way they strike out lately the potential is too great to ignore

Also don’t mind

Not Using

Shane McClanahan … I wrote about this a month ago and it has come true, Shane is not the same guy in the second half as he reaches his innings limit and we’re not paying for him today for that reason.  Hitting wins tonight.

Aaron Nola

Lance McCullers Jr

Bryse Wilson – Should be someone that gets some attention with how ugly the Reds lineup is going to look and he is very cheap.  I am just not using him myself, but I have nothing horrible to say about him.

[spacer height=”10px”]

There are a good number of spots tonight, which is expected with 14 games out there.  The Giants venture off into Coors Field to take on Jose Urena and they are pretty damn cheap because they are pretty awful this year.  Pederson, Yaz, Belt, Longo, Flores are likely the 1-5 hitters and everyone is sub 4k.  While Urena is a RHP, don’t assume Longo and Flores cannot do big damage off him from the right side too.  We do not need to start with the Giants, but know those relief options are there and the Giants should put up 5-6 runs total and I like Longoria the most.

Here’s the other teams who look nice today.

WHITE SOX vs GUARDIANS

I think there is mega juice in this series this weekend.  It’s do or die time for Chicago (they’ll die) and Cleveland is very good at home while also having the benefit of hitting the White Sox pitching VERY well this year.  Look for Josh Naylor to continue his hot season and the Gimenez-Gonzalez combination is going to have to have big games to help turn the order back over to the 1-3 guys.

Chicago RHH should hit 2 HR tonight off Triston McKenzie who has shown some signs of getting hit more lately.

RED SOX vs ORIOLES

Historically the Red Sox would be automatic chalk in Baltimore but not this year.  Devers/JD/Xander have hit well there and Hosmer used to hit well in Camden but with the new wall changes he could take a big hit there.

The Orioles side probably is what we trust more.  Mullins has another nice match-up after an average afternoon game vs the Cubs and Adley is just rolling right now.  This is a good game to target but not go overboard on stacks.

METS

Mets first game in Philly and it’s vs Nola, so expect them to be 2-3% owned today but offer some great power upside.  Dan Vogelbach, Jeff McNeil and Brandon Nimmo could all have sneaky good games here.
