Eight Monday night games to start this week off.

WEATHER
Reds at Phillies – Rain that eventually moves out. This is a case where I expect them to have a delay followed by them playing the game. But I am not using Noah Syndergaard (PHI) or Luis Cessa (CIN) as pitching options so it’s only a matter of trusting the game plays for hitters. Worth the risk.
All other games look fine

A fairly blah and boring pitching slate but not one where you just blindly pick anyone. Max Scherzer vs the Yankees is the headliner and since he is Max he will still garner ownership, but isn’t someone I believe is a must own at a high price point today.
I am not going to be using Scherzer tonight. If he drops his nuts on the Yankees then so be it.

JULIO URIAS
The Brewers struggled with lefty Justin Steele in Chicago yesterday and now go into a park which helps lefty hitters more, so facing a lefty on the mound probably won’t play into their favor much and in this case, Jose Urias, is seeing them the second time in a row after going just 5 IP but not allowing a run in Milwaukee.
He should get through 6 tonight and that puts him over 20 DK FPTS.
EDWARD CABRERA
The Marlins and Athletics series is going to be a fun one…. Things, nobody ever said. I think that Cabrera’s nasty stuff can play well in Oakland tonight, the A’s obviously haven’t seen him and will probably chase a fair amount allowing him to have a 6+ strikeout game.
Adam Oller (FANDUEL)
The more I check out FanDuel for building a lineup today the less I like the idea of forcing in a pay up pitcher. Another case where you might as well take the top dog in Scherzer if you are paying up there but I don’t think he is going past 42 fantasy points tonight and nobody in the mid range looks well either. So I trim down to a cheaper option with Contreras/Odorizzi having potential strike out upside but also both are giving up 4 ER and that’s still a negative thing so common sense says no.
How about a pitcher in a great pitchers park? How about a guy vs a bad offense? How about Adam Olly Olly Oxen Free! We dont need strikeouts here, we just need outs, and getting 18 of them is likely going to result in a quality start with a few K’s along the way.

Here are other SP who can do decent but I see no reason to go off Urias & Cabrera
Jeffrey Springs – Angels aren’t good vs LHP, but just by having Trout in the lineup and Rengifo hitting well I can see Springs ceiling being no higher than Cabrera’s.
Sonny Gray – Gray is one of the more predictable pitchers when it comes to projecting his outings using ratings and he doesn’t grade well enough to use today. I do like the Twins to win though.
Eric Lauer – A viable pivot off Urias

Braves vs Pirates
ATL – Acuna, Olson, Grissom, Harris
PIT – Newman, Reynolds, Cruz
In the last 10 games played at PNC Park the Pirates and the team visiting have combined to score 8+ runs in all 10 games. The Pirates don’t pitch very well in America, but in Pittsburgh they seem to have even more problems keeping opposing teams from scoring, but they also hit better here as well which makes sense with a younger lineup. With Odorizzi and Roansy going tonight we should see some early innings with men on base and it’s just a matter of do we get the clutch 2-run doubles from both sides to bring men around & keep the trend going.
METS
Marte, Lindor, Alonso
The Mets are going to love hitting in Yankee Stadium, that’s all I gotta say about that.
TWINS
Correa, Buxton, Miranda
Right back to the well tonight. They get a soft tossing style lefty that they should be able to beat up with Buxton back in the lineup.
