The Dongers Club – August 6th

There are two double headers today between the Braves/Mets and Angels/Mariners.  Both game 2’s for those are on DraftKings Main slate tonight and not FanDuel.

WEATHER

Blue Jays at Twins – Light storm/shower chances

Red Sox at Royals – 90+ Degree Temps and winds 13+ MPH out to left field.

NATE EOVALDI

Kansas City’s best bats (Salvy/Witt) are not plays I am liking against Eovaldi, who is pitching pretty well for Boston in the second half and even though he might give up a solo shot here or there he’s got an insanely high K% upside today.  I like Nate to have a 10+ swinging strike game, which means he is going over 20 DK fantasy points like he has each time he does that.

MAX SCHERZER

I’m writing this up before Game 1 but I don’t see any reason why Game 1 would deter us from using Max tonight.  The primary SP decision in terms of ownership tonight will be between Max and Rodon with Rodon expected higher against the Oakland PAthetics.  Max in a big spot though with the home crowd behind him is not an automatic fade and this honestly is what I expect to be a pitchers duel with Max Fried.  Give me Scherzer going his longest outing of the season so far in a statement game.

MICHAEL KOPECH

Kopech has had his best games when he gets to face a heavier lefty lineup and a lot of the middle/bottom of the order Rangers also do not walk very much.  He is coming off a 100 pitch outing, but seems to be more than built up to be reliable at this price in a 6 inning, 7+ strikeout spot in what is a homecoming game for him to return near where he grew up.

BLUE JAYS

Springer, Vladdy Jr, Bichette, Jansen/Kirk

Pending weather getting this game in (which I believe it will), the Jays are our first pit stop today for lots of homers off Dylan Bundy who has been better than many thought he would be in Minnesota, but he doesn’t miss bats and has almost a .200 ISO vs RHB.  It’s a bad mix and with humidity in the air, the ball should carry a little more.

YANKEES

Judge, Torres, Donaldson

Tonight we will find out why the Yankees traded Jordan Montgomery.  His first start as a Cardinal is against his former team and while the data says St. Louis hits German (sure, they will), I will go back to this game which was too quiet last night for some fireworks today.

RED SOX

Martinez, Bogaerts

All nine of Daniel Lynch’s HR allowed have come to RHH and with the weather playing the way it is I would trust Boston to make that 9 into an 11 today.  JD Martinez is finally showing signs of life, hey thanks for showing up pal.

Under the radar stacks

MARINERS

Haggerty, France, Santana, Suarez

We have five hitters 1-5 that have good to great DCPA potential today.  Not sure if Sam Haggerty leads off for Seattle but he hits lefties well and should set the table.  Monitor lineups after game 1 and look for Seattle to sweep this double header.

PADRES

Drury, Soto, Machado

I look at the large picture when it comes to Andrew Heaney and I know his stuff is not good enough to keep up what he has done with the Dodgers this year.  Love San Diego to bounce back tonight behind Machado, Soto and Drury.

CATCHER

  1. Jose Trevino – Hello C vs SP narrative.  Doesn’t get more fresh than this one as Trevino caught Monty more than Higgy this year.  Doesn’t hurt that he hits his pitch types well and has been white hot over the last week.
  2. Alejandro Kirk
  3. Cal Raleigh

[spacer height=”10px”]

FIRST BASE

  1. Vlad Guerrero Jr – Speaking of white hot, welcome to Vlad putting the Jays on his back right now.  He should be a $6k player on DK and is only $5300 there.
  2. Eric Hosmer
  3. Carlos Santana

[spacer height=”10px”]

SECOND BASE

  1. Gleyber Torres – Busted last night, going back to the well tonight.
  2. Jorge Polanco
  3. Brandon Drury

[spacer height=”10px”]

THIRD BASE

  1. Manny Machado – Core play for Padres stackers
  2. Eugenio Suarez
  3. Tommy La Stella – Warm game in Oakland, but I don’t like stacking Giants at all, so it’s top of order value one offs or bust.
  4. Rafael Devers

[spacer height=”10px”]

SHORTSTOP

  1. Xander Bogaerts
  2. Bo Bichette
  3. Paul DeJong

[spacer height=”10px”]

OUTFIELD – Mt. Rushmore

  1. George Springer
  2. Juan Soto
  3. Sam Haggerty
  4. Tyler O’Neill

[spacer height=”10px”]

OUTFIELD – Second Tier

  1. Luis Robert
  2. Aaron Judge

[spacer height=”10px”]

OUTFIELD – Value

  1. JD Martinez
  2. Nick Senzel – Great value against Ashby for those who don’t ride Ashby tonight.
  3. LaMonte Wade Jr
  4. Joey Gallo
  5. Wil Myers

[spacer height=”10px”]
