The Dongers Club – Sept 2nd

Congrats to Wiserman on winning the August contest.  His award is that he is going to get to do Sunday’s article as tomorrow is my last before vacation.  Don’t suck Wise.

Thirteen game Friday slate with 2 games starting before the 7pm lock.

WEATHER

We have no anticipated weather issues.

[spacer height=”10px”]

NICK PIVETTA

We gotta trust the data here as the Rangers 3-9 projected hitters are horrific vs Sliders and Knuckle Curves in 2022.  Pivetta also has the benefit of Fenway Park in September which cools off, has low humidity and the wind is also blowing in slightly tonight.  This could be a 7 or 8 inning spot for Pivetta if he avoids walks.

KYLE GIBSON

Not many guys are pitching better than Kyle Gibson at the moment but when you can say you faced the Nationals, Marlins, Reds and Pirates in that stretch then sure you can pretend to be a fancy Lobster Dinner at a not so fancy restaurant.  It’s still a Lobster dinner so we gotta acknowledge it.  Tonight that trend should continue vs the Giants, who are as bad if not worse than those other teams.

DEAN KREMER

The Dean of Baltimore has been good in Camden Yards, like many Orioles pitchers in 2022.  He allows a low 0.097 ISO, has a 21% strikeout rate and overall hitters xWOBA is .304.  Yada, yada, yada.  Dude, he’s facing Oakland and no I am not using Dermis Garcia or Shea Langeliers so give me Kremer as a nice value arm tonight.

MINNESOTA TWINS

Kepler, Arraez, Correa, Polanco

When the Twins go on the road in the AL Central they hit well and facing Davis Martin – who isn’t quite a long shutdown arm – is even more reason to load up on Kepler and the Twins.

MILWAUKEE BREWERS

Renfroe, Adames, Tellez, Mitchell (2k punt), Narvaez

Zach Davies has been okay in Chase Field but this is still a scenario where Milwaukee should be able to hit him around quite a bit tonight.  I don’t see them striking out much for a change either.

SEATTLE MARINERS

Winker, Haniger, Frazier

We have a scratch here as Zach Plesac realized he was going to balloon his ERA and said, here you take it kid.  Cody Morris is a tall RHP who will start tonight and I have loaded some long term projections on him into the model based on what I found on him.  With this info, Haniger/Winker should be on our radar again with Winker likely breaking out of a slump.

CLEVELAND GUARDIANS

Ramirez, Naylor, Gonzalez

This game has two very good bullpens in it, so we’re either going to get it early or not get it at all.  I encourage you to not overlook the Luis Castillo on a Friday factor here and trust that both teams needing to win right now will come out focused and put together good AB.
