How was that last week? Keegan & Rickie both in the write up. That’s the good side. The bad side was, it was a No-Cut event. I was winning – yes, winning – two single-entry GPPs before the final round. Small GPPs in that the prize was about $1,200 combined. Still, when you invest $40, that’s a hell of a return. No-Cut however, equals no room for separation and I ended up 8th and 2nd.
Ready for more brutal travel? Japan to SOUTH CAROLINA! Honestly, I’m not that worried about it, but I’m also understanding why some of the big names we are seeing this week weren’t seen last week.
Highlights: Congaree Golf Club – Par 71 @ 7,655 yards (that’s not a typo); there are some long holes (645-yard Par 5; 2 Par 4s OVER 520 yards); Plenty of bunkering and waste areas (sand where you can ground your club). This should not be a birdie-fest!
THIS IS A NO-CUT EVENT. BARRING INJURY OR ILLNESS, EVERYONE GETS FOUR ROUNDS!!!!!

$9,000 and Above
- Rory McIlroy ($11,100)** – normally, I don’t like the highest priced guy. However, in No-Cut weeks, it’s sometimes worth the risk since you can’t really lose a lot at the bottom and pricing is much nicer.
- Viktor Hovland ($9,200)** – I’ll take him as the 8th highest priced guy with his current form and the fact that the course length may be a bigger issue than a so-so short game.
- Max Homa ($9,100)
- Matthew Fitzpatrick ($9,800) – OK, he REALLLY sucked last week on the DP World Tour. Plus 6 and a missed cut IS NOT the Matthew Fitzpatrick I’ve watched. I expect a bounce back this week.
$7,500 to $8,900
- Tom Kim ($8,900)** – As I said before, I’m riding with this guy until he throws me from the saddle.
- Tyrrell Hatton ($8,500)
- Shane Lowry ($8,300)** – See Matthew Fitzpatrick above as to why.
- Mito Pereira ($7,600) – In No-Cuts, you need to try to pick some lower-owned guys. With Keegan Bradley’s current plays at $8,400 I thin a lot of people will go there. Save $800 and likely get the same number (or more) fantasy points.
- Tommy Fleetwood ($7,600) – Mito with more experience. Play either or both to save some salary.
$7,000 to $7,400
- Rickie Fowler ($7,400)** – Yeah, I think I was right! I’m still a little cautious, but I’m getting the same feeling with Rickie that I got when Jordan Spieth was trying to “get right” with his game.
- Sepp Straka ($7,400)** – #27 in the world? Huh? Good price for that form!
- Seonghyeon Kim ($7,100) – I LIKE HIM!!! Remember the Im-Kim-Kim call? Substitute “Ben” for “Si Woo” and there you go. OR, this week, go Im-Kim-Kim-Kim! Tommy G would be so proud! (If you don’t know who Tommy G is you won’t get it).
- Christiaan Bezuidenhout ($7,200)
Under $7,000
- Matt Kuchar ($6,900)** – Course length would be my only hesitation. He’s not a short-hitter, but he’s also not challenging for the lead in driving distance.
- J. J. Spaun ($6,700) – he’s making cuts – not that it matters this week. He’s also made 46 birdies and one eagle in his last three events.
- Brendon Todd ($6,400)
- Harris English ($6,500)
