Heading to Sin City! I like this event! Not because of the monster field it gets (it doesn’t) or the fact that it’s in a place where gambling is king (it really is). I like it because The Shriners do a lot of good things and, to me, few sports are as transparent about raising money for the causes in local areas like the PGA Tour.
This should be a good event. We have couple of the elite players in the world, but I still look for some of our newer names to shine.
Highlights: TPC Summerlin – Par 71 @ 7,255 yards; Bentgrass Greens; Above sea-level so it will play shorter (and that’s not real long); No weather concerns; Birdie-fest.
NOTE: All pricing is based on DraftKings
** are my favorites in each category – could be pricing or the fact I think they play best.
$9,000 and Above
The Obvious:
- Patrick Cantlay ($11,100)** – hate the price but you can’t ignore him
- Max Homa ($10,600)** – Patrick Cantlay for $500 less
The Plays if you want variance:
- Taylor Montgomery ($9,500)**
- Tom Kim ($9,700)** – Has to prove me wrong before I quit playing him
- Emiliano Grillo ($9,300) – C’mon! That club toss was awesome!
$7,500 to $8,900
- Thomas Detry ($7,900)** – loved him last week and $900 cheaper this week
- Christiaan Bezuidenhout ($8,200)** – favorite only because he’s cheaper than Burmester
- Dean Burmester ($8,500)
- Matt Kuchar ($7,600) – All about the price vs. talent level – even if he’s older
$7,000 to $7,400
- Justin Lower ($7,100)**
- Mark Hubbard ($7,400)**
- Seonghyeon Kim ($7,200) – I’ll be an honest tout! I really didn’t/don’t know much about this guy other than he’s gone T36-T13! And, well, the name “Kim” hasn’t hurt us in PGA DFS.
- Nick Taylor ($7,300) – T19 and T6 in last two events! At this price level – Hell yeah!
Under $7,000
- Cameron Champ ($7,000)** – even though not playing great, it’s hard to pass on this amount of talent at this price.
- Chesson Hadley ($6,900) – again, not playing well. However, at this price, a course history of T27-Cut-T18-T7-T4 is worth the risk. Remember, players can “get right” playing courses they usually play well.
- Adam Schenk ($6,500) – Course history play also.
- Chun An (“Kevin”) Yu ($6,500) – Finished T27 here last year. Also, in his two events this season, he MC’d and finished T19. Plus, you gotta love the Korean golfers who take on a name the idiots in the U.S. can say without looking like they have gas trying to say it. Kevin Yu and Tom Kim – love it!
LONGSHOT:
Rickie Fowler ($7,800) – I think he is close to finding his game again! Tie for 6th at Fortinet! HE’S PRICED TOO HIGH ON FanDuel though!
