The Slapshot – Nov 8th

Holy cow, I haven’t wrote an article for 5 days?  Just feels a little weird for me but that’s what we have this time of year when Rob picks up the weekend slates, then CFB/NFL roll in and of course we get a tiny 3 game Monday slate.

So with that said, we jump back in tonight with a normal big Tuesday night in the NHL which brings us a big DFS slate as well because the NBA is out taking a day off because they want you to vote.  They really don’t want you to vote, they just want to make it look like they want you to vote and I am sure that despite the day off half the league will be out tomorrow due to rest.

But I digress…  We are onto the NHL and so first things first, who is on back to back tonight you ask???

  • Edmonton
  • Calgary
  • NY Islanders
  • St. Louis

WILD vs KINGS

A huge slate with lots of big name stars and we start things off with the last game on the night that doesn’t drop the puck until 10:30 PM EST??

Yep Gif

Both teams are just bad all around allowing 3.6 and 3.8 GPG respectively while the road Wild have a bad 73% penalty kill and should give up 2 PPG to the Kings — who likely have their top line correlated both at even strength and on the power play.  This is a decent game for defenseman as well.

  • LAK:  Kopitar – Kempe – Vilardi
  • MIN:  Eriksson Ek – Greenway – Boldy

SENATORS

I want my Thomas Chabot goal and I wan’t it now.  Vancouver’s been fantasy friendly to everyone, but especially defenseman and the Sens should get a goal tonight from their PP unit.  Let’s start the night off with that Chabot goal and finish it up with another assist later on as the Sens roll.

  • Stuetzle – Tkachuk – Chabot

RED WINGS

On the season Montreal ranks 30th against centers, so paying $7,300 for Larkin even naked is a viable pick.  He sometimes has games where he just disappears for a couple of periods but the pace should remain good throughout in this game.

  • Larkin-Raymond-Seider

There aren’t a ton of one off skaters out there tonight who stand out to me as must owns.  This is terrible news for those of you who like to roll one lineup out there in the pucks land because tonight’s going to be a stack + stack build construction night — which is just fitting because half the damn people playing today are NBA folk who will just push optimize.

CORE ONE OFFS

Jeff Skinner – BUF – $5,100

One guy I like as a one off is Skinner who is just $5,100 and averaging 1.12 xGoals/60 while taking 5+ SOG per game.  I would much rather have him as a one off from Buffalo than Tage Thompson who is a lot more expensive.

Thomas Chabot – OTT – $6,300

PPG coming tonight for Chabot who has just 5 SOG over his last four games, so look for him to get going again vs the Canucks.

WINGS

  1. Jeff Skinner – BUF
  2. Adrian Kempe – LAK
  3. Brady Tkachuk – OTT
  4. Kyle Connor – WPG … $5,900 is too cheap for Connor even vs a good team in Dallas
  5. Nikita Kucherov – TB
  6. Jonathan Huberdeau – CGY
  7. Matt Boldy – MIN

My Pick of the day

Thomas Greiss – St. Louis

The Blues are bad and they are coming into a road back to back but with Craig Berube trying to get a spark going on this team and returning to Philly I see them playing a close physical game that results in the veteran Greiss stealing the show.  Explain to me exactly why he is $8,200 given how bad St. Louis is?  Exactly!  Here comes the Blues stealing the show…
