CFB DFS Tailgate: 12/29

Today’s Bowl Games

  • Pinstripe Bowl:  Syracuse vs Minnesota (-10.5), Yankee Stadium
  • Cheez-It Bowl:  Oklahoma vs Florida State (-9.5), Orlando, FL
  • Alamo Bowl:  Texas (-3) vs Washington, San Antonio, TX

No weather issues for these games.

Notable Injuries to monitor

  • Minnesota QB situation – Neither of which we are really considering though

I am listing the games in order of their start times, not in order of stacking…

Minnesota (-10.5) vs Syracuse, over/under: 45

Tanner Morgan is questionable but I doubt he starts and that would leave Athan Kaliakmanis ($5000) to hold the reigns at QB for the Gophers.  Mohamed Ibrahim (Minn) is playing and is almost at his lowest price ever and Sean Tucker (Syracuse) has opted out.

There is intrigue in this game even though the total is about 3 touchdowns less than the others and two notable players aren’t going to suit up…

What The Hell GIFs | Tenor

No, seriously.  I mean, Ibrahim is obvious at $7600.  Syracuse was good against the run but not elite and Orande Gadsen just balls out whenever he gets volume and I would be shocked to see Garrett Shrader not load up on 6+ targets for him today.

LeQuint Allen is more of a FB for Syracuse but he is listed as the top RB option for them today.  If he was min price I would take the gamble in the CORE build, but at $4100 I’m not sure that he really offers much use.  If we get word of someone else being elevated into this role then we’ll adjust accordingly but for now it appears to be Allen’s gig.

  • MINN:   Mohamed Ibrahim
  • SYR:  Orande Gadsen

Florida State (-9.5) vs Oklahoma

I woke up feeling the Cheeziest Coach!

I am all about a Quarterback in this game and it’s not Jordan Travis.  I love me some Dillon Gabriel back in Florida and looking more comfortable in Sooner Red now.  So long as they can keep him upright in this game he’s the guy I bank on finishing as QB1 and I’ll pair him with Marvin Mims.

This certainly sets up an obvious run it back QB game stack with Jordan Travis on the other side and the pace in this game should most certainly be good.  If we learned anything from the regular season, these teams are gonna try to start fast and the 1H over should be our favorite bet here.

  • FSU:  Jordan Travis, Trey Benson
    • One of WR Johnny Wilson, Ontaria Wilson, Mycah Pittman.  I have no specific preference out of the three and Travis/Benson should do well enough on the ground to limit any of these 3 from having massive catch games.
  • OU:  Dillon Gabriel, Marvin Mims

Washington vs Texas (-3)

Both Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson are out, so naturally Texas has a replacement and his name is either Robinson or Johnson.  Because why not…  Senior RB Kellan Robinson looks to be the lead back for Texas and honestly who cares because Texas won’t be able to run vs Washington QB Quinn Ewers probably won’t even let them call a run play today.

This is all about Penix going out with a bang vs Ewers trying to show he is their savior at QB and not that Manning kid from South Louisiana.  We want pieces in this game, but it’s not as appetizing for stacking the QB to me as the Cheez-It Bowl.

Xavier Worthy should have a big game for the Longhorns though.

  • Washington:  Michael Penix, Jalen McMillan, Cameron Davis
  • Texas:   Quinn Ewers, Xavier Worthy

Dillon Gabriel (Oklahoma) – $7800

Gabriel finished strong and should be 100% for this showdown with Travis in which I think he will out score him by at least 6-8 fantasy points.  He is the #1 QB on the board for me.

Jordan Travis (Florida St) – $7400

It’s wild that he is $400 cheaper than Gabriel, but good for me/us that means Gabriel probably is the 3rd or 4th highest owned QB on this slate.  Travis is your safe floor guy to get in.  If QB was much deeper we would fade him and the only one I consider fading for is actually Ewers.

Mohamed Ibrahim (Minnesota) – $7600

I know many get frustrated with CFB Bowl games because of guys quickly leaving games when they are banged up and Ibrahim certainly has potential to have an NFL career too.  But I think there is something to be said for someone coming back to college off an ACL injury and playing out his Senior year knowing he will enter the NFL as a 25 year old rookie when he does get there.  I believe he will play the full game today and he will deliver a legendary performace with 3 TD and 150+ yards rushing.  Lets not play scared here.

Trey Benson (Florida St) – $5400

Certainly OK to play with Travis at this price but my Ambush gut feel here is we play Benson and not Travis, it opens things up to a path of not playing 2 QB today and provides plenty of leverage if Benson can get the rushing TD that Travis owners will be seeking.  We just want one touchdown and 50+ yards rushing based on his price, things he most certainly should be able to accomplish – maybe even by the end of the 1Q.  But for the Travis fade to work we’ll need 2 TD for sure.

LeQuint Allen (Syracuse) – $4100

13 carries, 65 yards.  Can we get a touchdown?  I doubt it.  Do we have better options as punt plays?  Not really.  So on a slate when RB value is where we want to hunt, I dont love the play, but I get it and its more about prioritizing your CORE studs today than finding that gem in the rough.

Cameron Davis (Washington) – $5600

Davis and Wayne Taulapapa should split the RB carries for Washington today, either are fine and nice exposure against a leaky Texas rush defense.

Kellan Robinson (Texas) – $3900

Value and volume increase.

[spacer height=”14px”]

Xavier Worthy (Texas) – $6300

Worthy has the speed and size that has given Washington fits from comparable receivers in the Pac-12 all season long.  He projects to be the highest owned WR on this slate and is a hard fade.

Marvin Mims (Oklahoma) – $6800

Mims and Farooq seem to offer the most upside to pair with Gabriel.  The passing matchup is a tough one on paper, but I dont think FSU plays a stout defensive game today.

Orande Gadsen (Syracuse) – $6000

All he does is make big plays.

Jalen McMillan (Washington) – $7100

Jalil Farooq (Oklahoma) – $5100

LINEUP CONSTRUCTION

Finding value is a little tougher today and RB2 appears to be where most should turn after Ibrahim.  I think this is a good slate to get a little tricky with your value play of the day or try to stay balanced in pricing and not overload with stars and scrubs.
