CBB DFS: The ONIONS – Jan 7th

We continue to see some odd scheduling with DraftKings on these CBB slates.  They’ll start at 11:30 today and finish up before 2PM, which kinda makes it a fast sweat for those who are playing even with a small set of prize pools.

I won’t cover the Afternoon or Night slates until they finally have a big enough contest to play in.

Starting next Tuesday though we have the Bracket Mania (they changed name to Bonanza for some reason) contests starting up.  Lets get those Q’s down this season!

As a reminder, my approach for CBB DFS is to build around 1 or 2 main games but I rarely go above 4 players from a single game and no more than 2 players from a single team unless there is a TON of cheap value on a specific team.  The reason mainly is that it’s just hard to find enough points from going deep into a single spot.

Often times I will approach it as a 3-3-2 type build taking 3 players from Game A, 3 players from Game B and then my favorite one offs or 2 players from a third game.  Building a 3-2-2-1 approach is also logical many times and sometimes a 4-2-2 works as well.

Texas at Oklahoma State

I don’t love the early tip here, but I do like the Cowboys to … upset? Texas.  I say ? because right now I don’t think it should be considered a huge upset.

  • Texas:  Timmy Allen and/or Marcus Carr
  • OK ST:  Avery Anderson, Bryce Thompson

Notre Dame vs North Carolina

This is the game that starts at 11:30 and if the 1H goes under, hammer the 2H over.

  • ND:  Nate Laszewski, Trey Wertz
  • UNC:  Armando Bacot, Leaky Black

St. Johns at Providence

The Friars are coming off a big win and St Johns is coming off an ugly 2H this week.   Nice matchup here as Bryce Hopkins ($9000) and David Jones ($8300) should both be locks to go over 30 fantasy points with 40 or more upside.

  • STJN:  David Jones, Posh Alexander
  • PROV:   Devin Carter, David Jones

GUARDS

Bryce Hopkins (G/F) – Providence  – $9000 … Hopkins went for 70 back in December against Marquette & definitely is going over 30 today.

Posh Alexander – St. Johns – $6700 … PG In general have had the most success against Providence, but a scoring PG like Posh could be in line for a boost today.

Sahvir Wheeler – Kentucky – $6400

Marcus Carr – Texas – $7600

RJ Davis – UNC – $7900

Darin Green – FSU – $6700

Carson Wallace – Kentucky – $7600

Avery Anderson – Ok State – $6700

FORWARDS

Armando Bacot – UNC – $9900 … Being at home I edge Bacot to not move into foul trouble and BIGS have destroyed the Irish this season.  He should have a double double and probably winds up as a top 3 FPPG play on the slate overall.  Worth the price tag.

Nate Laszewski – Notre Dame – $6900 … Has to have a big game to try and keep Bacot from going off, but I do think foul trouble is a concern.

Timmy Allen – Texas – $7300

Jamison Battie – Minnesota – $6700

Ed Croswell – Providence – $7600

Dariq Whitehead – Duke – $4900

BEST VALUE PLAYS

Dariq Whitehead – Duke – F – $4900
