The Slapshot – Jan 19th

NHL DFS – The Slapshot

It’s a loaded Thursday as a heavy schedule NHL week continues tonight.  All total we have 13 games on the slate today.

Blue Jackets

Boone Jenner, Johnny Gaudreau, Patrik Laine

Columbus faces Anaheim who has given up 41-42-53-39-45 Shots against in their last five games.  While Columbus isn’t a great team, they do have a talented set of wingers on their top line who should be able to each get a good amount of SOG and probably drive a few home tonight.

Devils

Nico Hischier, Jesper Bratt, Jack Hughes, Tomas Tatar, Dougie Hamilton

We generally will roll with the top line at home and second line on the road, but with the Devils it really does not matter.  Hischier & Bratt vs Hughes and Tatar is a toss up tonight.  All four guys are on PP1 and the Devils should find a way to score on the PP tonight.

Golden Knights

Jack Eichel, Nicholas Roy, Alex Pietrangelo

Detroit is allowing 4+ GaPG over their last five and ranks 29th over the last month in FPPG allowed to Defenseman.  This should be an easy game for the Knights but finding the right stack is tough.  You want a couple Knights to round things out … tonight.

VALUE/SECONDARY LINES

Panthers 2

Sam Bennett, Carter Verhaeghe, Matthew Tkachuk

We’ll likely see a good amount of ownership with Florida, but I expect this game to be lower scoring than the public thinks with a good goal tending spot from Florida.  Where the offense I would seek in DFS comes from is their second line.

Capitals 3

Lars Eller, Conor Sheary, TJ Oshie

Sheary scores and Eller and Oshie will do enough grunt work tonight to set him up.  Nice value here with the Caps third line on the road out in the desert and even though the Kuzy-MoJo-Hathaway line is tempting, I cannot trust that they get enough ice time to actually use them.

CENTERS

  1. Nico Hischier / Jack Hughes
  2. Boone Jenner
  3. Jack Eichel
  4. Trevor Zegras
  5. Scott Laughlin
  6. Robert Thomas

WINGS

  1. Travis Konecny
  2. Patrik Laine / Johnny Gaudreau … Slightly prefer Gaudreau
  3. Troy Terry … If you recall on Tuesday I said I would be shocked if Henrique did not score.  Tonight I would be shocked if Terry does not score.
  4. Alex Tuch
  5. Carter Verhaeghe
  6. Anders Lee
  7. Conor Sheary

DEFENSE

  1. Alex Pietrangelo
  2. Dougie Hamilton
  3. Adam Boqvist
  4. Cam Fowler
  5. Aaron Ekblad

VALUE

  1. Nino Niederreiter
  2. Josh Bailey

Sergei Bobrovsky (Panthers) … I trust the safe side in the Panther/Habs game, one which I believe is lower scoring.  Montreal has a terrible PP which is how you beat the Panthers right now.

Also can consider

Sam Montembeault (Habs)… The leverage here is big.  The upside is huge.  The downside?  Well, self explanitory.  Montem has actually been good for Montreal, his team isn’t very good.  He is cheap though and has been very consistent of late.

Jordan Binnington (Blues)

Ilya Samsonov (Leafs)
