CBB DFS: The ONIONS – Feb 8th

THE KEY THREE

Darin Green – Florida St – $6,600

Gotta have some exposure on the Noles and Orange tonight.  While FSU doesn’t have a great shooting forward they do have guards who can benefit from the Syracuse 3PT defense and Green leads the way taking 7.4/gm

Justin Moore – Villanova – $6,200

I like a breakout game for Moore tonight and circled this game at the top for tournaments.

Ryan Kalkbrenner – Creighton – 8200

Using our DVP ratings, the Seton Hall defense is ranked 347 against Kalkbrenner’s archtype.  He went off for 43.5 (season high) against Seton Hall on January 3rd and is always a high FG% play very night.

GUARDS

The Noles and Orange chalk game is the best spot for guard play today.  It’s a slate where I won’t be going above someone like Judah Mintz.

  1. Judah Mintz – Syracuse – 7900
  2. Bryce Thompson – OK State – 5800 … Better 3PT shooter than Asberry and more consistent usage.
  3. Kadary Richmond – Seton Hall – 8600
  4. Ryan Nembhard – Creighton – 6800
  5. Josiah-Jordan James – Tennessee – 6700

FORWARDS

Conversely, this is shockingly a very deep forward slate tonight.

  1. Cam Whitmore – Villanova – 6800
  2. DaSean Nelson – DePaul – 6500 / Eral Penn – DePaul – 6700 … Bigs should do well vs Nova.  Nice correlation with my favorite game on the slate.
  3. Quinten Post – Boston College – 8100
  4. Jesse Edwards – Syracuse – 9100
  5. Hunter Dickinson – Michigan – 9600 … Dickinson should go for 40 tonight.  As always a 9k+ guy is less about him and more about is there depth in the mid range – which tonight I feel there is depth in mid range, so he is not a core play.  Alternatively, Jett Howard for Michigan has a good 3PT% matchup on paper, but is still shaky right now IMO.
  6. Justyn Mutts – VT – 8200

VALUE

  1. Caleb Murphy – DePaul – 4800
  2. Joe Toussaint – WVU – 5200
  3. Langston Love – Baylor – 3500

DePaul at Villanova

Looking over the games tonight to stack and yep, this is the one, that’s the one right there …

For DePaul, Caleb Murphy has been getting enough minutes that if DePaul does enough to push the tempo and Nova is taking quick shots (which I think they will) then he will get enough opportunities to pay off at $4400.  Even more upside if this one does go over like I think for him at such a cheap price.

Justin Moore though is due for that 30 spot, his legs should be enough under him now (as opposed to his arms) and nobody on DePaul will be able to stop him or Whitmore.

  • Nova:  Justin Moore – 6200, Cam Whitmore – 6800
  • DePaul:  Caleb Murphy – 4400, DaSean Nelson – 6500 (or Eral Penn – 6700)

Creighton at Seton Hall

Staying within the Big East, if you are chasing OT potential this game has it.
