The Slapshot – Feb 15th

Teams on B2B tonight

  • Chicago (at TOR)
  • Tampa (at ARI)
  • Colorado (at MIN)

Sabres (vs Ducks)

Thompson, Tuch, Skinner

Tonight’s slate should present a good amount of scoring upside across the board but these two teams being two of the more generous ones defensively.  They played a 6-3 game back in Buffalo earlier this season and the Ducks certainly haven’t done much improvement on defense.

The BUF1 line is too good to not score tonight IMO and worth paying for to just anchor around them and then go value.  They should score twice and could put up a 6 spot again on the Ducks.

Rangers

Trocheck, Panarin, Vesey

New York looks dangerous offensively now and should be too deep for Vancouver throughout the game.  Like the second line here.

CENTERS

Auston Matthews returns for the Leafs tonight but I won’t pay for him because I really like his wingers instead and would just go that route expecting AM34 to get assists at best.

  1. Vincent Trocheck
  2. Tage Thompson
  3. Trevor Zegras
  4. Steven Stamkos

WINGS

  1. Artemi Panarin
  2. Alex Killorn / Anthony Cirelli / Nikita Kucherov … I trust the TB second line and it was odd that Kucherov’s time was cut short last night in the OT game.  They essentially went the first 3-4 minutes of OT without him even coming on the ice, so something is concerning there or I am just reading too much into it.   Either way, the Wingers for Tampa are gonna shred the Coyotes
  3. William Nylander
  4. Mikko Rantanen
  5. Alex Tuch / Jeff Skinner
  6. Vlad Tarasenko … I suspect he is 20-30% owned at his price.

DEFENSE

  1. Adam Fox
  2. Victor Hedman
  3. Darnell Nurse

VALUE

  1. Tampa second line wingers
  2. Tyler Bertuzzi
  3. Jimmy Vesey
  4. JT Compher
  5. Juuso Valimaki – D
  6. Bowen Byram – D

Brian Elliott (Tampa) … The Bolts are playing better now after some bad home losses and I see nothing on Arizona being able to generate high % scoring chances tonight.  The shot volume is a little concerning but maybe Tampa being on a B2B after an OT game leads to them being slow in the 1P and giving up 15+ shots right out of the gate.

Ville Husso (Red Wings) … Lets put this Red Wings ML whisperer to the test on the road in Edmonton.

Ilya Samsonov (Leafs)
