The Slapshot – Feb 22nd

Another year, another late February domination by Daily Ambush in the NHL DFS Lobby as we had at one point three single bullet entries in the top 10 of the $444 with a few others behind them.  All total, one of our loyal members took down $40k in the big contest and won some others as well.  Great night and after that I can’t just not write up a small 3 game short slate so here goes.

And I’ll wait to mention that March is coming which is the time when I heavily dial back NHL as I clear my mind for Baseball and enjoy College Basketball, but yes, no reason to go there right now …

Dallas Stars

Hintz – Robertson – Pavelski – Heiskanen – Benn*

There once was a time when Chicago at Dallas meant Blackhawks win and Toews-Kane DFS stacks rejoice.  Those days are long gone as Toews is obviously out with “long covid”, also known as, “I gotta work on my golf game and not play for this shitty team” and the Stars are just much better now having won five straight against Chicago.

Throw on top that Chicago stole an OT win last night at home (thank you!) and Dallas is rested and ready to go off as they’re a good home team and I believe they should get 4 PPO tonight with for sure one goal coming there and likely two.

Jamie Benn is on PP1 and the third line, on a short slate like this you want to go OVER the field in terms of exposure to a full stack.  Meaning do not play 4 Stars, play 5 or play just 2-3.

Calgary Flames

Mikael Backlund, Blake Coleman

Nazem Kadri, Jonathan Huberdeau

Trevor Lewis

I’ll be looking for lots of good SOG props in this game and looking at the Flames for some DFS value.  This reminds me of what we have seen lately vs the Ducks where secondary lines produce simply because one team can control the puck 80% of the time.  That’s the case vs ‘Zona tonight, so look at CGY for value.

CENTERS

  1. Roope Hintz
  2. Mikael Backlund
  3. Pierre-Luc Dubois … This is a gut call but I am riding the Jets again and I think it’s Scheifele/PLD who start things up, but I’ll fade Scheifele coming off a 2 goal game and take the WPG2 line.

WINGS

  1. Jason Robertson + Joe Pavelski
  2. Nikolaj Ehlers
  3. Anders Lee
  4. Andrew Mangiapane
  5. Jamie Benn
  6. Patty Kane … Oh look, he scored again.  Just in play as a one off tonight
  7. Nick Schmaltz

DEFENSE

You should have salary tonight to plug in Heiskanen, so go ahead and do that.  I also don’t hate the idea of rolling out 3D tonight, but for which teams to use, it’s clearly DAL-CGY-WPG in that order.

  1. Miro Heiskanen
  2. Noah Hanifin
  3. Neal Pionk
  4. Rasmus Andersson
  5. Josh Morrissey

VALUE

  1. Blake Coleman
  2. Kyle Palmieri
  3. Nils Lundkvist (D) … PP2 unit for Stars

Jake Oettinger (Dallas) … Being in the business of predicting goalie stat lines sounds like a terrible way to live, but let me give it a try.  29 saves, 1 GA, Win.  On a short three game slate, that’ll do.  Dallas doesn’t play again until Saturday, so he should be in net.

In terms of the other goalie options tonight …

  • Ilya Sorokin / Connor Hellebuyck … Pick your fighter, not sure who wins this game but I do lean the Jets side.
  • Karel Vejmelka (ARI) … This is simply put the fuck it button.  Should face a ton of shots, shouldn’t win.

SOG PROPS

Pierre-Luc Dubois o2.5 (-150)
