CBB DFS: The ONIONS – March 15th

Short five game slate with two Main tournament First Four games and 3 NIT spots

  • Fairleigh Dickinson vs Texas Southern – First Four
  • Nevada vs Arizona State – First Four
  • UCF vs Florida
  • Virginia Tech vs Cincinnati
  • UC-Irvine vs Oregon … The greatest mascot battle ever?   Anteaters against Ducks!

Virginia Tech vs Cincinnati (NIT)

Road teams did well enough on the first night of the NIT, or maybe it was just the road teams beating up on overrated conferences (i.e. Rutgers/Big10 and Washington St/Pac12).  Virginia Tech is the better roster, but can they contain David DeJulius and Mika Adams-Woods given their struggles with quality PG this season?  Terquavion Smith and Jaikel Joiner roasted them on March 8th and Jeremy Roach before that on Feb 25th, I would expect more of the same tonight from the Bearcats backcourt.

  • VT:   Justyn Mutts, Sean Pedulla
  • Cincy:    David DeJulius, Mika Adams-Woods

UCF vs Florida (NIT)

Very stackable game given the pricing on both sides.  Florida has been out rebounded constantly so both Taylor Hendricks and Michael Durr are probable to benefit in that area for the Knights, who I think can win this game on the road.

  • UCF:  Taylor Hendricks, Ithiel Horton
  • Florida:  Kyle Lofton, Myreon Jones

Key Three

David DeJulius – Cincinnati … Very high ceiling spot for DeJulius tonight.

PJ Henry – Texas Southern … This is a nice little 5’9 vs 5’8 matchup between the PG tonight and neither team is very big (not shocking).  Henry’s averaged 35% usage and 25% shot rates over their last four games coming into the tournament and Texas Southern should be a little more crisp allowing him to push near 28-32 fantasy points.

Taylor Hendricks – UCF … Has a good interior matchup vs Florida and has only had 4 fouls twice in the last dozen or so games.  It all adds up to a ton of minutes tonight and with the rebounding boost a double double potential.

TOP BETS

Once again I will be doing the Big 67 as we pick all 67 games of the NCAA tournament.  It will be logged like last year when we had a great run in the NCAA tournament with betting picks.

DFS CORE

Although the prices are a little low on the Texas Southern/FDU game I will try to avoid going overload on that spot as I have it as an under play given what we saw on the first four games on Tuesday night and that being a consistent theme with prior years.  They may start fast, but it slows down in a hurry.

G:  PJ Henry (TXSO)

G:  David DeJulius (Cincy)

F:  Taylor Hendricks (UCF)

Value:  Myreon Jones (Florida)
