The Dongers Club – April 17th

Nine game Main Monday night slate, a perfect one if you ask me.

I’m also just now putting together that the MLB must have prioritized keeping teams at home from Sunday to Monday this season.  The White Sox, Royals, Cardinals, Astros, Athletics, Padres, Mariners and Dodgers are all home today after playing home series over the weekend.  Only Colorado had to travel yesterday to get back home.  Maybe the MLBPA said we want more home family time on Sunday nights and we would rather travel during the week?  Who knows, but I stick with my long standing theory that the team who doesn’t travel Sunday night wins on Monday more often than not.

WEATHER

SNOW … Yes, SNOW.  Not, J.T. Snow, not Garth Snow, but actual white powder shit is coming down in Chicago and I don’t mean cocaine either.  It appears it will be long gone or turned into rain before the game starts, but its Cold, Windy, and just down right fucking miserable in Chicago.   We will know long before the game time if they decide to PPD this one.

*** They PPD it thankfully ***

All other games for sure play.

CORBIN BURNES

We nailed the Burnes get right game in Arizona last week and another favorable road game tonight in Seattle should just allow him to stack up more great numbers for his impending huge contract with another team.  The most encouraging thing was seeing 0 walks vs Arizona and there’s no reason not to expect a similar result tonight even though Kolten Wong is gonna try to do something vs his former team.  Good luck with that.

JACOB deGROM

deGrom has gone 92 and 98 pitches in his last two starts and now makes his first road start as a Texas Ranger.  Lucky for him, he continues to get to pitch into a huge park and will face the Royals for the second time in a row.  Sometimes we would lean on the hitters seeing the pitcher twice in a row, but that sometime is not here.

HAYDEN WESNESKI

I would not mind using Wesneski as an SP1 to be honest.  The movement he gets on his Sweeper and Sinker is going to give fits vs Oakland, a team who is striking out 24% of the time over the last 10 days and isn’t likely to tough him up much tonight.

BREWERS

Yelich, Winker, Adames, Contreras

Chris Flexen some nuts on a Monday night tries to bounce back off a horrible start (normal by his standards) against a swing happy Brewers team.  But I really don’t expect him to have a clean first inning and that could lead us to a lot of good run scoring options later in the game for Milwaukee to pay off.

CARDINALS

Burleson, Arenado, Gorman

If you think Flaherty is the guy who is going to walk everyone in this game, you are mistaken.  Kelly comes in struggling this season to get the whiffs necessary and has walked 4 batters in each of his first three games.  A good fastball hitting team like the Cardinals won’t help as I expect him to be behind in counts and St. Louis to string together some long innings.

METS

Nimmo, Lindor, Baty

The Mets team total is a top bet for me today and I’m going the contrarian take to have them beating up on Dustin May enough to pay off in DFS.  Lindor is a must today, he’s the type of kid (is he still considered a kid? Well, to my old ass he is) who will show out in L.A.
