The last two weeks have been really down from a Baseball/MLB DFS standpoint. Some of the results have been so-so with a few hits here and there, but overall it’s been bad by my standards. One of the things that has been annoying for 10+ days now is the lack of Chairman results, which honestly is just one pick in the whole article but something I definitely take great pride in.
I watched some bad Baseball yesterday as I am still blown away by certain teams inability to have a clue how to play situational baseball when it comes to late inning strategy and specifically in extra innings. Let me rant for a minute here as the Miami Marlins managed to get through the T10 without allowing San Francisco to score and had one of their best athletes – Jazz Chisolm – set to lead off the next inning at 2nd base.
Now, mind you, this was because Jazz got out in the inning prior when they had the winning run in scoring position with 2 outs and he was trying to pull the ball as hard as he could for a home run, but I digress.
So, let’s see here. Nobody out, great speed on 2nd, tie game, just need a run to win against the worst bullpen in the NL. What do you do?
Well you swing away first pitch and pop it up of course. Not even a hint of maybe daring the pitcher to be concerned that Jazz could steal or the threat of a bunt to move him over. Nothing. They wound up getting nothing out of the inning despite getting the bases loaded and then lost because they gave up not one, but TWO 2-run homers int he 11th. Yes, I had a Marlins bet in, and that’s beside the point (**** EDITORS NOTE: No, Renner is just bitching, thats really the point here *****).
It’s frustrating to see shit like that, and then the Max Scherzer sticky stuff scenario while MLB hypes up some bullshit pinch runner rule they are testing in the minor leagues and at some point you say enough with this garbage shit, can we have our real baseball game back?

Anyways.
I said to myself today would be the day. I hate Thursday’s in general and there’s no need for me to push my Cal Ripken doing an article every slate streak this whole season. Maybe I should take Thursday off, reset the brain and then come back for a nice TestiFriday slate tomorrow.
But, nah.
Fuck that.

We are here, right? You are reading this? I assume?
We bounce back.
We move forward.
On with the mother fucking show, we’ve got Reds-Pirates on the slate.
WEATHER
Windy (14 mph) out to CF in Wrigley with some lingering rain showers/storms. It should be really bad during the day/afternoon so lets see how much rain gets dumped here and if they PPD for that reason or not. My guess is no and the game starts/plays just fine.
Chase Field Roof = Open

KODAI SENGA
It’s the home team Giants who have the disadvantage of timezone travel here from their trip down in Miami and they also have a dumpster fore lineup that will be seeing Senga’s ghosts for the first time.
ROANSY CONTRERAS
Fresh off a sweep out in Coors Field the Pirates return home to beat up on their nemesis the Reds. This is the 2nd series between these squads this year which means the chances of their annual brawl increases even more as the weekend moves on.

PADRES
Tatis, Machado, Soto, Bogaerts, Cronenworth
Fernando Tatis Jr. is back. He has been hitting everything in the minor leagues in case you didn’t hear and … he is $2,000 on DraftKings. What?????? I swear to God I think this company should change their colors to Black and Red because the advantage they had over FanDuel was like the 28-3 lead the Falcons had in the Super Bowl.
Any rate, the Padres, are going to go off tonight. Not just the return of Tatis but also the annual trip to Chase Field with the roof open when they can drop 17 runs on an Arizona team who might be showing some warts on the pitching front.
DODGERS
Freeman, Muncy, Vargas
One part playing the Wrigley Wind, two parts attacking Jameson Taillon.
ROCKIES
Cron, Bryant, Montero
I am old enough to remember when the Rockies would roll into Philadelphia with Arenado, Story, Blackmon and CarGo and folks would pretend as if those good hitters could not hit in a tiny ballpark like Philadelphia against the Phillies shitty bullpen back in the day just because it wasn’t Coors Field and they thought it was a negative park shift. Even though technically, it was a boost up for them for HR for many reasons when it was warm out in Philly.
But times have changed. These Rockies aren’t good at all, but they do have Bryant and Cron.
