- Cold and Wind blowing IN at Wrigley Field. There’s also some lingering rain but I believe they play and I believe the pitchers will get hit a little but obviously not a lot of scoring or HR upside.

NESTOR CORTES
Minnesota could not be more jeckyl and hyde vs LHP right now. On paper there’s potential for some good splits in this lineup but in reality we also see plenty of strikeouts vs LHP and just overall average performances. It’s once again chilly and the wind is blowing IN at Target, so Nestor should be fine and hopefully he can repeat some of what Sale did vs the Twins last week.
A big decision on DK today is Nestor or Joe Ryan, who should wind up doing well like Sonny Gray did last night but Nestor is my lean to beat him and paying for both makes things tricky on DK. If you want to be simple and move on, just gamestack these two together.
BLAKE SNELL
If there IS rain here I would shy away, but if it’s just cold and misty then I trust Snell with the wind blowing in and a night Wrigley game. I mentioned that there will be runners on base on both sides, but Snell is more likely to have that big strikeout game and can get out of the jams tonight. His FanDuel $7600 price is very tempting.
Why I am still trusting Brady Singer …
In other words, you can just keep on reading beyond this because yes, I write him up all the time and yeah he hasn’t been 2022 Singer the last couple of starts. I base most of that on his time spent in the WBC where he sat on his ass mostly and he has struggled so far getting the same whiff % and giving up too much hard contact. But he’s still great vs LHB and Arizona might roll out 5 of them tonight, so I’ll take the risk as an SP2 or second lineup with Singer tonight on a day with very limited pitching options.
While this slate is weak in terms of ‘lock’ options up top, it does offer some depth in what I would categorize as roller coaster type pitchers.
- Josiah Gray … I gave it some thought given that the Mets first game back on east coast after a long road trip — but nah. Not worth the pain and suffering of the sweat.
- Charlie Morton … I can’t trust Uncle Chuck in 2023
- Griffin Canning … No sir, the Athletics offense is hitting, it’s their pitching that is horrible and why they are miserable.
- Mason Miller … His price is lower than I expected, so I get the temptation on DK as an SP2, I won’t laugh it off, but I wanna see more.
WHITE SOX
Not going to spin cycle this garbage franchise, other than saying we’re locking in Andrew Vaughn and then at the end of the night when we wonder why we keep stacking the White Sox you can just remember …
BRAVES
Acuna, Albies, Murphy, Riley
Braves ‘n Hoeing, Braves ‘n Hoeing, Braves ‘n Hoeing, I gotta have me my Braves stack. The Ronnie, the Murphy the Ozzie Albies, I’m stacking them top to bottom without Ozuna. Freeze, Blooper, the Chop House deck the stack won’t flop cuz Riley’s bringing the smoke!

CATCHER
Good catchers are starting to heat up. Salvy had a decent night last night and probably has the HR coming tonight if he can pull it a little more. Murphy started the heater and so I wouldn’t be shocked if we saw some other ‘good’ catchers get going soon – like JT Realmuto who isn’t on this slate, or Willson Contreras but he is in a bad park. So for now, ride the hot hands or just punt C like everyone wants to do.

I am sorry to just keep writing up the same obvious shit at 3B, but right now that’s all we got. It’s a decent matchup for Arenado off a rest game and a park he has hit well in and also facing a terrible bullpen. But it’s also hard to justify paying for him over Chapman and Austin Riley, not to mention we have Brian Anderson at home vs the Tigers/Spencer Turnbull but that’s actually not a massive HR spot for him.
I would lean plugging in the 3B from your stack here. There isn’t a specific one off that grades out as a must have and I don’t think there’s gonna be some chalk value in a great split here either that you’ll regret not having.
