The Dongers Club – July 31st

Another medium pizza today with 9 slices of games today though instead, so a bonus one and if you had to guess which game deserves to be that extra slice it would probably be the Padres in Coors Field against the Rockies, no?

Out of the nine home teams today we have just Houston, Toronto, Atlanta, Colorado and San Francisco who are home that were also home over the weekend.

The team who traveled the furthest from Sunday to Monday is Cincinnati going from L.A. to Wrigley Field.

WEATHER

Should be all clear.

TOP TWO OPTIONS

TYLER GLASNOW — DK: $10,500 | FD: $10,600

Dean Kremer had an inning where he got out of a Bases Loaded situation via the strikeout of 3 batters and now Tyler Glasnow rolls into town with back to back 30%+ CSW games and seemingly no limitations having gone 95-93-97 on the PC of late with just 4 walks combined in those last three starts.

MARCUS STROMAN — DK: $8400 | FD: $9400

Couple bad starts in a row from Stroman, but the Cubs surge should have him and the home crowd energized.  This has all the signs of an 8 inning shutout performance from Stroman before turning it over to the bullpen to close out the 3-0 win in the 9th inning.

NICK PIVETTA — DK: $6600 | FD: $8000

Seattle hit better down in Arizona but they have not hit that well at home in a long time.  The strikeout rates are dropping which is good to see, but Pivetta has been delivering very well and at his price is hard to pass up assuming we see another 5-6 IP performance from him today.

OTHER PITCHING NOTES

I expect Kyle Gibson and Chris Bassitt to both get through 6 tonight, in a game where I do think there is going to be some offense as well but these two are similar in what you can expect out of them today.   Not worth using, but dont be shocked when they’re doing okay.

ASTROS

Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, Chas McCormick

I’m sorry, the Guardians are honestly going to trot Thor out there?  Really?   Hey, I guess he can throw a few innings if he is lucky.  I like Chas McCormick a good amount here at $4,100 even though he typically hits lower in the order.

ROCKIES

Nolan Jones, Michael Toglia

As Herb Brooks once said, great moments are born from great opportunity.  That is what you have here tonight folks.  The Rockies shipping out CJ Cron and Randal Grichuk will open the door for more Nolan Jones and more Toga parties with Michael Toglia most likely.  This isn’t just a donkey stack in Coors for cheap, I do think the young Rockies have some staying power to trust.

ORIOLES / JAYS

BAL:  Santander, O’Hearn

TOR:  Vlad G, Bichette, Merrifield

Could be the series of the season right here.  There’s back to back games coming up Tuesday and Wednesday where Ryan Mountcastle will get to face Hyun-Jin Ryu and Yusei Kikuchi back to back.  Considering Mountcastle not only dominates the Jays in Toronto but smashes lefties, that’s a hell of a two day stretch coming up for the Orioles 1B who is looking very comfortable at the plate.  He may sit tonight as they continue to platoon with Ryan O’Hearn and thus I lean on the Jays 1B Vladdy G to have a bigger game today, but I am all in on this series all week.
