The AMBUSH – NFL Week 2 – Primetime Special

We have a MNF double header special, which considering my team is playing is quite annoying for me, but as I am getting older I do appreciate the earlier night start time of 7PM so I can pass out in comfort before the night is over.

Both spots are divisional battles and ones which probably feature close and lower scoring games.  You can dive into the SHOWDOWN for either one, but we’re gonna cover it as a ‘Primetime’ 2 game classic write up for DFS purposes, as that is the best spot for prize pools tonight and a format I really like.  Although I must admit, if DK wants to push the Super-Flex format, this is the slate to do it and allow people to still roster a Defense in the S-FLEX spot if they so choose.

SAINTS vs PANTHERS

Carolina brought in notable Saint killer and Marshon Lattimore nemesis, Adam Theilen, during the off-season but he is not quite the same guy as he once was and Lattimore is at his prime/peak of his career right now.  None the less, that’s a match-up for the Saints that they might be a little concerned with tonight as the game moves along and DJ Chark is questionable (but likely) here too.  You can run on this Saints defense, but they’ll be disciplined and I doubt the Panthers are able to get a BIG run out of this game.  Last season in the same spot, Laviska Shenault went off for a long run and is viable as a screen option to take one for a big play here as well. It’s more of a showdown option but I could see him getting involved some tonight.

New Orleans pass protection will dictate how this game rolls out.  I expect the Carolina front 7 to get some pressure on Carr & thus the passing game has to run through Juwan Johnson and Michael Thomas as opposed to Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed.  All of the Olave production last week came when Carr was able to find him on 2nd/3rd progressions given Olave’s great ability to get open against zone coverage vs the Titans.  This week could be a little more challenging although Jaycee Horn’s injury helps the Saints tremendously.

Yes, we’ll see some Taysom Hill tonight as well and either him or Jamaal Williams scores inside the 10 yard line, while Kendre Miller makes his NFL debut and should have 40-60 total yards if the game script is what I believe it will be.

DFS Options:

  1. Michael Thomas (NO)
  2. Miles Sanders (CAR)
  3. Juwan Johnson (NO)

Showdown Extras

  1. Taysom Hill
  2. Laviska Shenault
  3. Saints Defense
  4. Panthers Defense

BROWNS vs STEELERS

Pittsburgh is gonna bounce back and this game will have more points than the Saints/Panthers one.  Amari Cooper is not likely to go tonight but there’s still options in the Cleveland passing game as Elijah Moore, DPJ and TE David Njoku are great value (even though we dont need value) and should see equal bumps in usage.  I also think Watson’s legs are gonna get going tonight so he’s going to finish as QB1 because of that.

Pittsburgh can’t be as bad as week 1, can they?  No Diontae Johnson so all the Najee Harris with a little Jaylen Warren mixed in as well for the Steelers.  This one is pretty straight forward in DFS for me, and I think it’s logical to go heavy here for stacking.

DFS Options:

  1. Najee Harris (PIT)
  2. Deshaun Watson (CLE)
  3. Nick Chubb (CLE)
  4. George Pickens (PIT)
  5. Elijah Moore (CLE)
  6. David Njoku (CLE)

Showdown Extras

  1. Donovan Peoples Jones
  2. Jaylen Warren
  3. Allen Robinson
