Stacks That I Have My Eye On

Below I’ll break down the particular stacks I’m interested and delve into it based on matchup, ability, predicted game script, and collective salary while picking an opposing player or two to run that stack back with if appropriate. *Note: All pricing is DraftKings focused

Los Angeles Rams vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

QB Matthew Stafford, WR Cooper Kupp, WR Puka Nacua Thus far Matthew Stafford has been throwing the ball around the yard like a true gunslinger, a lot of what we saw earlier in his career. Stafford is top five in pass attempts, top 10 in completions, and third in passing yards coming into this week. However, with all of that volume, Stafford has just six passing touchdowns suggesting that touchdown regression should be coming. Add that to the fact that the backfield is a major question mark this week in a good matchup for the passing game anyway and we could see upward of 40+ pass attempts from the veteran. With Cooper Kupp back we’ve seen that there’s plenty of volume for both Kupp and Puka Nacua. Last week Kupp saw nine targets and the week before saw 12. Over those two game Nacua himself saw seven and 11 targets. This game projects to be close with a decent total. The Steelers’ pass defense has been respectable thus far but the quarterbacks they’ve faced include Brock Purdy (in a game the 49ers didn’t have to throw, Deshaun Watson in Week 2, Jimmy G, C.J. Stroud, and Lamar Jackson – not exactly prolific passers. Run it Back: WR Diontae Johnson Johnson looks to be back this week and he’s a welcomed addition. The Steelers passing game has struggled for sure but Johnson gives them a good boost. He’ll occupy the bulk of the short to intermediate targets which will be good for quarterback Kenny Picket with the idea of getting some high-percentage passes from him. Tight end Pat Freirmuth is already out leading me to believe that Johnson should be busy in that area of the field.

Green Bay Packers vs. Denver Broncos

QB Jordan Love, WR Romeo Doubs, TE Luke Musgrave We know that the Broncos defense has been garbage and that Jordan Love hasn’t exactly looked like Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers throwing the ball, but he may this week! Love paired up with Doubs (who should avoid Pat Surtain) and Luke Musgrave (the chalk value tight end this week) make for a very affordable stack to consider, more affordable for sure than the stack above. Denver has allowed the most passing touchdowns (14), second-most passing yards (1608), and the most yards per pass attempt (8.2) coming into this week. The Broncos have had no answer in stopping tight end leaving Musgrave in a great spot and Doubs should see a lot of Damarri Mathis who has been one of the worst corners in the league allowing four touchdowns (tied for the most of any corner), and 29 receptions on 38 targets while posting a 131 passer rating against. Yikes. Run it Back: WR Jerry Jeudy It hasn’t been easy to trust any of these pass targets to this point for Denver but I’m looking at Jeudy who should avoid Jaier Alexander in this matchup. Jeudy projects to matchup with Keisean Dixon who’s allowed 12 receptions on 17 targets and a 100.9 passer rating thus far.
