Below I’ll break down the particular stacks I’m interested and delve into it based on matchup, ability, predicted game script, and collective salary while picking an opposing player or two to run that stack back with if appropriate.*Note: All pricing is DraftKings focused
Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
QB C.J. Stroud, WR Tank Dell, WR Nico Collins
The season that C.J. Stroud has put together has been special, specifically with how he’s taken care of the ball. Stroud has 17 touchdown passes to just five interceptions and in this matchup earlier this season on the road Stroud was 20/30 with 280 yards passing and two passing touchdowns. One of those touchdowns went to fellow rookie Tank Dell who ammassed seven receptions for 145 yards and that score. Dell has been cooking of late with six or more receptions in each of his last three games with a touchdown in each, four total over that span. Nico Collins is in the midst of a breakout season for Houston and is coming off a 11 target,seven reception, 65 yard game last week. Despite not having much success in this matchup earlier this season, Collins has had six games this season with six or more targets.
Run it Back: WR Calvin Ridley
In a cash/single entry setting expect WR Christian Kirk ($5,700) to be more heavily owned and with good reason. Kirk had been a killer in the slot, QB Trevor Lawrence ($6,400) trusts him and he’s been more consistent. However, in a tournament, upside-seeking contest within a lineup build such as this I’m looking at Ridley. The former Falcon has nine of more targets in two of his last three games and saw seven targets in this matchup earlier in the season. Most telling to me is that over the last three weeks Ridley has seen five red zone targets. Last week the Lawrence to Ridley connection was cooking as Ridley hauled in seven receptions for 103 yards and two touchdowns.
Indianapolis Colts vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
QB Gardner Minshew, WR Michael Pittman, WR Josh Downs
This is a sneaky, good fantasy game to me with some chalk included throughout. Within this stack I’m looking to avoid the chalk with RB Jonathan Taylor ($6,900) potentially the highest owned running back on the slate. Minshew will be the value quarterback that most will look to in that range but with plenty of ownership coming in on QB Josh Allen ($8,100) and QB Jalen Hurts ($8,300) the ownership should be spread out. The Buccaneers secondary has been torched of late and Minshew’s favorite target Michael Pittman has been as consistent as they come. Pittman has seen seven or more targets in five of his last six games with double-digit targets in three of those games. His ownership will be somewhat high but it’s worth rostering here. Josh Downs fits with Minshew in the value department and has been down over his last two games with just four total targets and three receptions over that span. In his previous four games Downs saw at least six targets and hauled in five or more receptions. Look for him to fall into that range of outcomes in this spot.
Run it Back: WR Mike Evans
Evans has 22 targets over his last two games and has found the endzone in each of those contests. Despite the Colts being tough in the secondary there isn’t a matchup that Evans can’t exploit. He’s been one of the more consistent receivers in the league this season with touchdowns in seven of 10 contests to this point.
