There are actually FOUR Bowl games today with two of them taking place in Baseball Stadiums. The early 11:00 am game up in Fenway Park between SMU and Boston College is not on the DraftKings slate.
Rutgers vs Miami (Fl) – Pinstripe Bowl
This game looks and smells ugly. I cannot imagine too many points coming out of this spot, although Miami in theory could have a good passing game with Rutgers being down their top CB. But they’re expected to start Jacurri Brown at QB and his passing upside seems limited. The Scarlet Knights are favored and the total is a low 41.5 We’re really not looking much here beyond a fill-in value.
DFS Rank: #3
North Carolina State vs Kansas State – Pop-Tarts Bowl
This one is down in Orlando and while it’s also on the ‘undercard’ compared to the main event game below it offers a little more DFS value for us today.
There are plenty of transfer portal and opt-outs from this game which impacts the QB position. Brennan Armstrong is going to be starting for NC State again, while Avery Johnson (No relation to the basketball coach) takes over for Will Howard for the Wildcats.
Kevin “KC” Concepcion is one of the elite plays going today. Up against a pass defense ranked 75th and enough trust with Armstrong I would be shocked if he didn’t have a solid game. Honestly I am not sure how Kansas State moves the ball but Avery Johnson is worth a roll of the dice here if you trust them to keep it close. They should lose by 7-10.
DFS Rank: #2
Arizona vs Oklahoma – Alamo Bowl
The main event game, which is without Dillon Gabriel for Oklahoma, along with a few RB down too for the Sooners. The Wildcats are mostly full stock but won’t have their starting LT Jordan Morgan. Otherwise it’s full systems go with Filfita, McMillan, Cowing and Wiley all suiting up for Arizona.
I have respect for the Sooners defense, but you don’t go from practicing up tempo all season long to not keeping that up with a new QB coming in, and so the pace on this one will benefit both sides and we’re obviously invested here first for DFS
DFS Rank: #1
- Jackson Arnold – Oklahoma
- Noah Fifta – Arizona
- Avery Johnson – Kansas State
Unlike yesterday, this isn’t a RB loaded slate. DJ Giddens ranks as the highest upside play based on volume, but the NC State rush defense is very stout.
- Kyle Monangai – Rutgers
- Michael Wiley – Arizona
- DJ Giddens – Kansas State
- Henry Parrish – Miami
Outside of Concepcion, the heavy build here is to find 3 WR from the Arizona/Oklahoma game.
- Kevin Concepcion – NC State
- Jalil Farooq – Oklahoma … I would imagine Stoops has a couple big catches too but we’re getting a big salary discount here allowing for us to ensure 2 QB in lineups.
- Jacob Cowing – Arizona
- Tetairoa McMillan – Arizona
- Jacolby George – Miami
VALUE WR
- Jayce Brown – Kansas State … Strongly considering making this a CORE play. The volume that used to go to Phillip Brooks could find it’s way to the Freshman Brown who was third on the team with 385 yards receiving
- Christian Dremel – Rutgers … Led the Scarlet Knights in receiving, which isn’t saying much.
DRAFTKINGS CORE OPTIONS
Jackson Arnold
Kyle Monangai
Kevin Concepcion
Jalil Farooq or Jayce Brown (or both)
SLATE BREAKDOWN
Roster two QB today and likely 4 WR in most builds.
BETS
Rutgers -1.5
