The AMBUSH – NFL Week 8

There is temptation today to look at a couple games and ride the game stack scenario, but I see a ton of points being scored (after a down week that is a no doubt about it fact) and we’ll see the need to also have plenty of high scoring one offs today.

My quick three themes this week are

  1. Ride the due factors on WR’s….  Courtland Sutton, Jayden Reed, Tyreek Hill
  2. Find your value at RB
  3. Pay down on defense and maybe QB

THE SAFE OPTION

Jordan Love – I expect him to be a chalky play.  He’s got a stable of WR who are likely all in today and facing a bad pass defense.  For cash game type builders, he’s the ‘safe’ route.

CONTRARIAN STUD

Josh Allen – Allen or Cook is gonna score two rushing TD’s today.

POSSIBLE CHEAP OPTIONS

Mason Rudolph … I almost went back to Rattler here, but the flow of that game is gonna go by very fast.  This one is a sneaky spot up in Detroit.  We know how damn good the Lions offense has been – but they’re going into a big trap spot here today.  Who’s gonna slow down Calvin Ridley?

It feels like we have a build up for about 8 recommended running backs by simply following our eyes and attacking statistically bad rush defenses.  Guys like Javonte Williams, JK Dobbins, James Cook and Joe Mixon all figure to make some sense against bad rush defenses.  But none feel like the must owns and I find myself just going back to my system belief of home RB’s who are favored and mid priced…

  1. D’Andre Swift:  Literally exactly what I just described above except he’s on the road
  2. DeVon Achane … Miami is my top play this week to win.  They should have lots of red zone chances against a tired Arizona defense.
  3. James Cook:  Not at home, but somehow the Bills score 3+ rushing touchdowns this week.

Also Like, but not as much

  1. Chase Brown:  Tough to love Brown with Moss here and Burrow playing well of late.
  2. Chuba Hubbard:  Contrarian spot with Young and no WR.  It’s him or bust for Panthers.
  3. JK Dobbins:  I am buying into New Orleans having their best game of the season – or at least in a while.  Defensively they’ll get Pete Werner back which has to help in the tackling department – but while Dobbins remains the volume option for the Chargers we kinda gotta consider him.

This is a deep WR slate and one with lots of “due” potential WR touchdown spots.  Lets get my two sleepers out of the way first.

  1. Courtland Sutton – Got left behind in their last game and should have no problem against Carolina’s DBs
  2. Calvin Ridley

Then we have the what feels like obvious group.

  1. Jayden Reed – Much like others here, he hasnt seen the end zone recently enough.
  2. DeVonta Smith – Probably the one potential shootout game that you’ll want to game stack.
  3. Tyreek Hill – Tua’s gonna give him the ball
  4. Tank Dell:  Last weeks flop

  1. Brock Bowers:
  2. Dalton Schultz:
  3. Noah Fant:

These are of course the non Taysom plays

  1. Saints:  Pride game for the veterans
  2. Broncos
  3. Lions
