El Club De Los Dongers – Cinco de Mayo

Obligatory spot where I just scratch my head on the decisions FanDuel and DraftKings make when building their slates out.

FanDuel included the two 6:40 PM Senior Citizen Dinner games which means you get Dodgers in Miami to feast upon if playing there.  However, and this one is just mind blowing.  They have once again dropped the LAST game of the night, so no Mariners vs Athletics over there.

DK locks at the 7PM window.

WEATHER

Padres at Yankees:  I dont see this game playing, but as of now they haven’t PPD it so that’s a good sign that the Yankees are going to absolutely pummel Nick Pivetta.

Mets at Diamondbacks:  Roof OPEN in Chase Field tonight

Nobody looks clean tonight & there’s a bunch of guys who have some walk issues that look like they’re considerable plays.  Lock me into the ‘contrarian’ bucket I guess tonight as there are two guys noted below (in the Other notes part) who are the logical picks, but I am fading both.

AJ SMITH-SHAWVER (DK: $7500, FD: $7700)

Oddly enough AJSS limited time in the big leagues has been a reverse splits, I wouldn’t lean that much into it and would rather just trust that the key righties McLain and Steer are strikeouts for him and not hitting homers out.

SHANE SMITH (DK: $7000, FD: $7600)

So the Royals came into yesterday with the fewest HR in the league and managed to destroy Baltimore for a franchise record 7-HR in one game.  That’s awesome boys.  Now they’re back home in Kauffman Stadium, which isn’t freezing cold but not like the humid Camden Yards yesterday.  Shane Smith is a SP they’ve never seen before too, a bad sign for the Royals.  He won’t go too deep but I think he keeps the Royals under 1 ER.

MILES MIKOLAS (DK: $6200, FD: $6900)

A long long time ago, I used to bank on Pirates/Cardinals always beating each other up offensively.  Now, I cannot trust much from either team in this series.  I want to look at Mlodzinski but the upside hasn’t been there since his first start.  Boring ole Mustache Miles is great with his command at least & will need to give the Cardinals 6 IP after a doubleheader yesterday IMO.

OTHER PITCHING THOUGHTS

  • Cole Ragans – Ragans is coming off a little extra rest after a groin strain.  The reset was probably good as he clearly was off for two starts with his command.  Combine that with his price tag and we’ll pass on him vs the White Sox tonight.
  • Bryce Miller – Model is all over him because it wants to pick on the Athletics, but the walks are just fucking disgusting with this bozo and the Mariners pitchers away from home aren’t the same.  Avoid.
  • Landen Roupp and Matthew Boyd are going to engage in a battle of who can leave the most men stranded tonight.  Neither will go deep.  Neither will get rocked.

METS

Lindor, Soto, Alvarez

Two games yesterday?  Blah, they’ll win this one tonight.  We get Ryne Nelson and the D’Backs pen isn’t exactly lighting the world on fire.  I would be shocked if the Mets didnt have late inning heroics here tonight, so bare that in mind in game after Griffin Canning spots Arizona the lead.  Juan Soto just being 5K is a little bit of a crime too.

MARINERS

Crawford, Polanco, Tellez

Finally a good park shift for this team.  Everything begins and ends with Crawford-Polanco.  This team is not possible to stack without them because after that it’s just random guessing on who hits the solo or 3-run homers.  If we do go deep though, Rowdy Tellez is your third wheel
