The NFL once again thought that they can just roll out some big teams on Christmas Day and dominate the day. Well, lucky for them, the NBA sucks still, but the joke comes back as you have literally zero intrigue in any of these games today. The only saving grace for the NFL that I’ll allow is that it is a Thursday at least so the expectation for football is slightly there — but still, this should be an NBA only day.
My opinion for the Xmas games is that it is a slate where the games wind up having a little bit of a Goldilocks type balance to them. If you don’t know what that means, it’s a 3 game slate where we have three different style outcomes.
- Dallas at Washington: This is the eventful game which also has the upset special. Holiday games are weird and especially weird when both teams are eliminated and ready to go to Cancun. Advantage the home team giving Josh Johnson his one final NFL career start.
- Detroit at Minnesota: This is one we get the team who should win does but they don’t have too much trouble. The Lions are just better and still have slim homes of backing their way into the playoffs although the dream is really really fading.
- Denver at Kansas City: It’s a snoozer and it’s a one sided game with Denver winning easily but still lower scoring. There’s no way Sean Payton comes into this one trying to make a statement. He gets in, he gets the win and he gets out. Happy RJ Harvey / Denver rushing game day.
Believe it or not, I like three options. Jared Goff has the most to play for, but the Vikings pass defense continues to look very good, which really makes it hard to see him going above the 20 spot today. Dak will be the chalk, but Josh Johnson has to play well for Washington to have an upset chance & not only do I think he will – I like Washington to win.

RJ Harvey (DK: $6500, FD: $7300)
If the Broncos aren’t rushing it 30 times in a game they need to hold onto the #1 seed, then I’ll gladly take my loss here. Harvey has cemented himself as the one to guy when they want to rush the ball.
Jahmyr Gibbs (DK: $8300, FD: $9400)
One of the great things about locking in Josh Johnson will be taking the solid floor options. At running back, Gibbs is in line for a 5+ catch game and possibly 2 touchdowns. While the Vikings are good vs the pass, they just have not been able to consistently stop teams on the ground.
Malik Davis (DK: $4800, FD: $5800)
Javonte Williams could be running out of gas given how much they have used him and he is going into Free Agency as well. I wouldn’t be shocked to see Dallas split the duties between Williams & Davis this week. Williams is going to be heavy chalk but with Gibbs/Harvey being locked in for me, I think he’s an easy fade. Consider Davis as the pivot in game stacks.
One cannot hype up an upset and a sneaky bad game shootout without then going right there for Wide Receivers. And I am most certainly not going to do that to you all here. So lets just cut to the chase.

SECOND TIER
- Jameson Williams, Jordan Addison, Ryan Flournoy, Marvin Mims
I dont like a single guy here. Which means we probably get two touchdowns from every TE on the slate. But, honestly, there’s no selling any of these options. Sure, Ferguson is at the top & probably the one to go with even though he has really died lately. Kelce with a final home game TD send off? Blah.
