The Dongers Club – June 19th

Happy TestiFriday to those who celebrate.  Enjoy the over at 1060 West Addison before you watch the USA-Australia game if thats your jam.

WEATHER

  • Brewers at Braves:  They’ll get this one in.  Expect storms to possibly delay the start but I’m not expecting it to be long
  • All the Domes should be closed tonigh with the possible exception of Seattle.

THE HEADLINER – Miz…

So prior to all the weather issues in Atlanta this week we had a matchup tonight which was going to be Misiorowski vs Sale down in Atlanta, but now the Braves have pushed Sale back and will roll out Martin Perez, which is quite the bummer from an entertainment perspective.  Here’s the thing on Miz.  I’ve said for the past month you just play this elite level status no matter what and yes, it’s once again a big slate where you’re going to see the value plays work out around him most likely to justify using him.  I mean, if he hits 50% of his likely outcome he’s still giving you a pretty damn good score and a legit chance to cash.

But I honestly think you can avoid him today.  However, don’t expect it to be some awesome brilliant fade if he suddenly leaves early in the 4th inning or is in trouble with pitch count and walks, because there’s no reason to think either is happening.

JEFFREY SPRINGS (DK: $6300)

Ladies and Gentlemen we ask that you rise now and Gentlemen remove your caps while we honor Mike Trout’s 2026 season, which on Thursday night appears to have come to a conclusion with him opting to go on the IL to rest his ham string.  He was having a comeback season (oddly with no Saturday night homers) and was doing so well with avoiding the IL.  But we can only assume that his wife has asked him to be home during the 4th of July and probably wants to take a family trip during the All-Star break even though we all know he’s just going to be sitting around like some weirdo scrolling Eagles videos on Tik-Tok or Instagram.  Like, seriously man, nobody gives a shit about the Eagles 4th string Wide Receiver.  Dudes name is Britain.  And please explain to me how the offense transitions from Jalen Hurts to Andy Dalton during practice?  Imagine being whatever backup OL the Eagles have now that all their fans have posters of in their underwear and you are in the huddle all sweaty during pre-season trying to make the team.  You go from the quiet, monotone Jalen Hurts and the next thing you know you look up and there’s some 6’4 Ginger telling you he’s gonna practice the tush push on two.

Oh.  Jeffrey Springs.  Yes.  Even at home?  Sure.  Only Logan O’Hoppe will take him deep.  Anyways.  thanks for your participation Mr. Trout.  Hope the new golf course is working out well.

RANGER SUAREZ (DK: $8600)

Banged up Mariners lineup as Julio is day to day and not much pop from the right side.  Probably a Cal Raleigh wake up weekend, however, nothing else here to think Ranger in the pitcher friendly Seattle shouldn’t be trusted.

LANDEN ROUPP (DK: $8700)

And now back to real Baseball analysis.  Roupp’s not getting the whiffs on his sinker but that’s okay it’s job is to get grounders & he can then get the whiffs on the breaking ball which the Marlins are oddly bottom 5 in the league against.  Their lefties also shouldn’t be much of an issue for Roupp today.  Decent park shift if he gets good defense behind him (he should).

OTHER NOTES

  • Bubba Chandler will be good once more and is underpriced just because he is out in Coors Field.  I dont hate him one bit at $5500.  What I hate is that too many folks will go Misiorowski and Chandler today and move on.  Thanks DK.  This is a $7k player, not $5500.
  • Why play Schlittler and deGrom.  Just go to Misiorowski.  Neither posts a 30, so that’s the gap you aren’t really making up and only would use these guys in a scenario where Atlanta says screw it and doesn’t play the game.

BREWERS

The humidity will linger around in Atlanta enough for those who do hit the ball to send it out of the park.  Yeah, it could help the donkey Braves too but they gotta actually hit Misirorowski.  Dont forget about Contreras returning to Atlanta this weekend too.

  • Jackson Chourio
  • William Contreras
  • Andrew Vaughn
  • Brice Turang

RAYS

While Cade Cavalli is not a terrible pitcher, the Nationals bullpen is a terrible bullpen.   Cade’s also got too much reverse splits hard hit rates against him for Diaz/Caminero to not do well and I swear Caminero homers every Friday at home.

  • Junior Caminero
  • Yandy Diaz
  • Richie Palacios

ASTROS

Both sides in this game are tempting, but hard still to stack Cleveland without Jose Ramirez.  So we go to the Houston side which gets the HR friendly Tanner Bibee on the bump.

  • Yordan Alvarez
  • Cam Smith
  • Isaac Paredes

SLEEPER GAME / SERIES

  • Minnesota @ Arizona:  While the roof is now closed for the summer in Arizona, the over/under on these games goes down and thus the ownership drops too.  Soroka we know sucks, but it’s Prielipp and the Twins pen that is exposed big time.  If you have concerns about the Brewers in Atlanta (weather) then pivot here for a full team stack but pair both sides:
    • Arenado / Perdomo / Marte
    • Buxton / Clemens / Keaschall
