The Dongers Club – July 24th

A very boring Thursday night in the Sports world and it’s kinda a boring Friday as well so thank goodness we have MLB games tonight, am I right?

On another note, look at the slate this weekend and you’ll notice that there’s almost NO west coast series going on.  The only one is out in San Francisco between the Angels and Giants.  This means on Sunday we should have a 12 game main slate with three one off Showdown slates (Brunch, 4PM and 7PM), which is interesting to almost nobody but me probably.

But hey, its a slow Sports news day, just had to do my part.

Wait, who is going to Philly?

Noel Accari is a Flyer now????

Wow.

WEATHER

All clear

Welcome to mostly mid-tier Friday.  A bunch of guys that you’re fine with getting a 17 from them and really just hope they can get the win.  Miller/Gore is the one spot with big strikeout upside, but neither is worth it IMO.   Cal Raleigh is going to wake up and have a big weekend for Seattle & Mariners pitchers away from home just don’t have the appeal…

Logan Webb (DK: $9700)

Congrats to Logan Webb on finally pitching a night game once again.  Bigger congrats on being able to do it at home against the awful Angels

Davis Martin (DK: $8800)

It feels like annually whenever Houston is in Chicago it turns into a bunch of 9-8 games.  This is not the spot though.  Martin and Arrighetti are both quality arms & should be trusted to keep the ball in the park tonight.

Shane McClanahan (DK: $9000)

The return of Jose Ramirez certainly gives Cleveland a boost, but they’re a higher strikeout team than usual this season & the Hoskins/Rocchio heaters probably come to a halt.

Really feels like a weird one off day….    I think Boston and Atlanta should be on your radar, but both have opposing SP who can completely shutdown when on.  So look at these alternate spots.

RAYS

Death.  Taxes.  Rays at home on Friday’s.

CARDINALS

St. Louis is in this bad routine right now of jumping out with runs early and then completely falling off.  However, most of that was tied to the Diamondbacks, and they are familiar with the Reds pitching certainly — which also still has some holes in the pen & Lowder is not a hard first gate to pass.

  • Ivan Herrera
  • JJ Wetherholt
  • Alec Burleson

MARLINS

If German Marquez vs Ryan Gusto doesn’t get one excited in South Beach then I don’t know what will.  Our fish need a win.  Okay, they’re just my fish.  Well, they still need a damn win.   It’s good that they are back home to get on the right track again.
