Parker Messick (DK: $9200)
Ho-hum, a heavy mix of fastball and change-ups against a lineup that does hit changes well but has never seen Messick — this is the big advantage to him as he keeps them off balance and puts up another ~6 inning, 2 ER, 6 strikeout line to start things off.
Logan Gilbert (DK: $10,000)
It’s a little bit of the reverse blowout theory, although bragging about 22 runs when you had a position player pitching and Julio Rodriguez throwing the ball into the stands with two outs is kinda lame. So, lets bank on the theory here and hope Gilbert is fine. Not a glowing endorsement, but the options are thin.
Seth Lugo (DK: $6800)
I’m of the belief that the Royals should have taken a box of cracker jacks for Lugo at the trade deadline if they could have. He’s 36 years sold & the decline is there. But he’s still good at home in Kauffman stadium & should do fine against a young Athletics lineup.
