World Wide Technology Championship
A couple of guys cost me last week by missing the cut with bogies on the 18th hole on Friday. I could say I’m upset, but I’m not. It was expected given that the field was so bad and you are basically hoping guys play well enough to make the weekend. Same this week. With the exception of a few, this field sucks!! Until we hit Hawaii in January, this will be the recurring theme for PGA DFS.
I’m playing light again this week. Three entries with two in single-entries ($100 & $12) and one GPP ($33 with only 706 total entries). Again, I want the one-bullet per person with a reasonably small number of entries in weeks like this.
Highlights: El Camaleon Golf Club – Par 71 @ 7,000 yards; Short course with wide fairways and large greens – welcome to resort golf! This will/should be a birdie-fest since the winning scores the last six years have ranged from -19 to -23. So, looking for the guys that can score.

$9,000 and Above
- Viktor Hovland ($11,200)** – As a two-time defending champion, this is arguably the best play of the two guys over $11K. Not that Scottie Scheffler is a slouch. For $200 more, you can go there too. My lean towards Hovland is due to the fact that he is playing more and, well, Win-Win is a clear statement of course comfort.
- Billy Horschel ($10,000)** – three Top 10s in his last 3 events. Two Top 10s in his last 4 appearances here. Let’s go!
- Maverick McNealy ($9,400) – Last three events: T18-T12-T10! Last three appearances here: T11-T12-T26!
- Tom Hoge/Taylor Montgomery ($9,500/$9,600)** – I like both of these guys. Taylor lacks the experience at El Camaleon. However, BOTH of these guys have not finished outside the Top 15 in the last 10 weeks! Yes, 2 ½ months! If you want to skip the 5-figure guys completely, here’s a good starting point.
$7,500 to $8,900
- Thomas Detry ($8,800)** – Not many guys playing as much or as well as he is right now. In the last two months, he’s been on the first page of the leader board plenty. And, he very well could have won last week. Ride the hot hand!
- Brian Harman ($8,900) – Missed the cut here last year, but he is playing well as of late.
- Andrew Putnam ($8,100)
- Matt Kuchar ($8,000) – A winner here in 2019 and hasn’t been outside the Top 25 since. With weak fields and short courses, ball-strikers with experience will not hurt you.
- Justin Lower ($7,600)** – giving you an extra guy this week who is also one of my favorite plays given his current form and CHEAP price!
$7,000 to $7,400
- Adam Long ($7,400)**
- Seonghyeon “Ben” Kim ($7,200)** – missed the cut last week but I still think this guy will be more expensive than this if he continues on Tour this summer.
- Will Gordon ($7,000)
- Russell Knox ($7,100) – he’s $2,100 cheaper than last week and I’m not sure why. He made the cut and finished T49. At $9,200, that’s not what you want. But, for $7,100? Hell yes!! Three Top 10s from 2016 – 2018 are also good vibes to have on a course.
I ACTUALLY DON’T HATE THIS NEXT CATEGORY! In weeks like this, the $6K range is usually equivalent to pulling hair out of your nose and trying not to sneeze!
Under $7,000
- C. T. Pan ($6,800)** – Course history and making cuts.
- Chun-an “Kevin” Yu ($6,900)** – No history here but I’m really liking these guys that come up with easy American names for us to pronounce. I think it’s because they know they are going to be in contention and they don’t want the announcers screwing it up!
- Scott Piercy ($6,600) – Course history only!
- Aaron Baddeley ($6,500) – I liked the way he played last week and conditions should be similar. Again, like Kuchar, experience is a good thing!
