RSM Classic
This will be the last week until January. There may be some small tournaments but I won’t be doing an article. This week’s tournament is one of the “multiple-course tournaments” we see throughout the year. Frankly, if one course is easier than the other, Showdowns seem to be a better play on Thursday and Friday. That’s because the harder course of the two is typically played on the weekend and you get no advantage with half the field.
Both courses are short and, depending on the wind, scoring is usually low (high points by DFS standards). The Seaside Course is played on the weekend so, if you play Showdown, maybe lean to the Plantation Course because it’s only 55 yards longer and a Par 72 as opposed to a Par 70 at Seaside.
Highlights: Plantation Course Par 72 – 7,060 yards (Thursday or Friday)
Seaside Course Par 70 – 7,005 yards (Thurs or Friday & Weekend)

- Alexander Noren ($9,400)** – been playing and has 2 Top 10s in last 3
- Ludvig Aberg ($10,900)** – highest price but T10-T13-T2-T10-Win-T4 recently
- Justin Suh ($9,200)
- Eric Cole ($9,000) – T2-T3-T35-4th Hasn’t played in three weeks, but it’s the time of year for new guys to shine.
$8,000 to $9,000
- Matt Kuchar ($8,900)**
- Akshay Bhatia ($8,100)** – I like the guys that have been playing & playing well
- J. J. Spaun ($8,000)
- Luke List ($8,300)
$7,000 to $7,900
- Chesson Hadley ($7,900)** – Two T7s before taking last week off.
- Camilo Villegas ($7,700)** – I usually hate taking guys that just won, but as I said last week, Camilo is streaky and last two weeks have been WIN-T2!
- Matthias Schmid ($7,500) – 3rd-T38-2nd-T26. Assuming this is a pattern, somewhere in the 20th-30th range at this price is acceptable.
- Taylor Pendrith ($7,600) – T8-T15-T3 in last 3 events
- Nicholas Lindheim ($7,400) – Yeah, I usually stop at 4 but this guy hasn’t missed a cut since March 2023. Yes, that’s only ten events and eight are on the Korn Ferry Tour. But, this is the time of year for these guys to stand out!
Under $7,000
- Carson Young ($6,900) – Seems to play well when Cameron is in the tournament just to confuse us!
- Will Gordon ($6,900)
- Kramer Hickok (6,800)
