Florida has not been kind to me! Last week, I did eek out a $150 cashing on one entry with 4 out of 6 (pure luck – it really doesn’t happen often), but the Florida swing was NOT profitable. Let’s see if Texas is any better! We have a couple of weeks before The Masters so fields will be suspect. Probably next week more than this week since those that have qualified will want to head to Augusta sooner rather than later. While not fantastic, we do have several quality players this week – including Scottie “Instapick” Scheffler.
My friend Legend was really frustrated last week (or at least I hope he’s my friend) and I feel his pain. Honestly, I thought he was going to get a Cashmere Keith win to ease his pain but that was shattered on Sunday.
Highlights: Memorial Park Golf Course
- Par 70 – 7,435 yards
- Three Par 5s and Five Par 3s
- Fairways are wide and forgiving
- Greens are small (Bermuda over seeded with POA) – Speedy and wind can make it worse for play later in the day.
- Biggest equalizer? WIND!!! It’s Texas
- This is one of the nicest municipal courses in the country (which means we all can play it at a reasonable price) but it was renovated in 2020 to make it more difficult which is why the PGA is likely here.
Only three years of course history, but I will consider it. Playing Texas courses is an acquired skill with the wind. Guys that typically play well in Texas (or in wind) should get a boost this week.

Four guys! That seems to be the new norm along with guys priced under $6K.
- Scottie Scheffler ($13,000) – Now we see why there are guys under $6K. If not, affording the “Instapick” in a lineup would be painful. I never say this when a guy is priced this high, but, get him in at least one lineup.
- Wyndham Clark ($10,900) – What a drop in price from 1 to 2! Also, except for last week you also have the guys that have FINISHED 1 and 2! I don’t mind starting a lineup here either.
- Sahith Theegala ($10,300) – This might be a little rich for him given that he still has a lot to prove. However, 3 Top 10s in the last 4 entries does say quite a mouthful.
- Will Zalatoris ($10,100) – All four of these guys are absolutely playable as long as you can construct a lineup using them and not fear having 3 of 6 left for the weekend. Willy Z is probably playing the worst of any of them, but outside of a MC at the Players, his previous three contests produced a T4-T2-T13! And, yes, I have a man-crush on Z!
