The Dongers Club – April 16th (Early)

We destroyed last night and I was very close on some qualifiers to a live final which I know some others were chasing as well and I am rooting for us to all Ambush that this year — if that is your desire to do such.  And no, you do not need to be MAX entering them every time as I was cashing all 3 of my lineups in everything on DraftKings while seeing others with 10-20 or more lineups all missing out.  Stick to your process which works and trust your instincts!

Today we have a 6 game early slate on DraftKings with the main slate then at 7pm tonight, so two articles coming and I wish you luck if you play FanDuel on Saturday’s my good friends.  I really do.

WEATHER

All games will play and with some wind impacting spots today.

Diamondbacks vs Mets – Wind out 14 mph to center.

Rays vs White Sox – Wind out 12 mph to center — and cold again.

Athletics vs Jays – I believe roof should be closed. Chilly in Toronto.  Because it’s Canaduh.

Tigers vs Royals – 11 mph winds IN

Twins vs Red Sox – 11 mph winds OUT

So what does this all mean????   Honestly….  Nothing IMO.  It’s not above 70 degrees anywhere and I believe we throw all this out the window and you will not get that 15-20 seconds of your life back, sorry, but if you are reading this on the shitter while hiding from your family then you can consider yourself welcome for the added grumpy time.

And turn on a fan for God’s sake…

The pitching is less than exciting on this early slate.

COREY KLUBER

I am playing the weather and looking to Game Stack pitching on this weird SP slate.  Let’s get one thing out of the way real quick … You will NOT see a pitcher go off for 25+ points on this slate.  Heck, you will be lucky to see someone get 20+ fpts, so the difference between the #1 and #5 pitcher could be the equivalence of a double from one of your hitters.  Kluber is going to be un-owned and is going to shut down the White Sox today for 6 strong innings.  Let’s AMBUSH them today with Klubot.

MICHAEL KOPECH

I added the pitchers last start information on the Dashboard, specifically because of guys like Kopech when they pop off on the model.  When he reached the point that he is stretched out into a reliable pitcher he is arguably a 10k type talent with a 32% whiff rate.  The problem is, he isn’t a guy that is stretched out into a 7 inning type reliable arm since he really just throws 2 pitches and we’re always wondering if his arm is going to just go flying through the air and hit some unsuspecting person looking at their phone behind the dugouts.  They warn you about the batted balls and bats at games, but not the flying failed Tommy John arms, now do they?

Bottom line on Kopech though is with limited options and a moderate price tag if he gives us another 18 batters faced with the Rays being an offense we’re going to attack this year he should do just fine today.

That’s it, that’s where I am going … now you want some takes on the other guys?  Okay fine.  The most likely to come out and throw up a bunch of strikeouts is Tanner Houck and Boston most definitely is winning today.

Manning & Bubic — The Royals offense is crap and is always terrible on Saturday day games, plus the weather is nice for the SP.  That said, Manning’s profile is one that KC top hitters should do better vs.  If Salvy is OUT for somse reason then Manning is on the radar.  Bubic will pitch well, but why bother I say?

Gallen, Gray, Carrasco, Anderson — I would rather have Kluber

RED SOX

Trevor Story, Rafael Devers, Alex Verdugo, JBJ

Boston is winning and sorry Sonny Gray, you are the speed bump that is in their way.  They’ll put the ball in play and Trevor Story will jack a 3-run shot over the monster making it a 5-1 Red Sox lead in the 4th inning.

BLUE JAYS

Bo Bichette, Matt Chapman, Lourdes Gurriel, George Springer

Death. Taxes.  Blue Jays on Saturday home games.   It takes big marbles to fade Vladdy Guerrerro, but you also don’t need a rocket science degree or a scouts degree for that matter to know he is viable.  The others are ones I really like especially Bichette/Chapman/Gurriel.

BRAVES / PADRES

Olson/Duvall … Machado/Grisham

Look at what we have here, an early afternoon game out in PETCO park, which means two things.  Number one we are playing the over and number two the Braves are probably going down to Mexico after this game and will get nearly no-hit tomorrow.  As for the first thing though, load up on this game as the batters eye is looking good and Manny Machado is on fire for the Padres + Adam Duvall should hit Nick Martinez.
