There are four games early today and they are kinda meh to the naked eye but look good for DFS purposes. This is on DraftKings only because FanDuel did something weird as usual on their site.
All four games play, for those wondering the four games are:
- Orioles at Twins
- Cardinals at White Sox
- Mariners at Athletics
- Rangers at Angels
This is going to be a slate where I recommend you follow the short slate rule on DraftKings of stacking SP in one game and stacking hitting as much as you can from another game.
PITCHING
Michael Pineda & Jorge Lopez
In a three lineup scenario this would be my combination on all three of them and no I don’t think either guy is going to pitch a dominant outing but that is what we are given in terms of choices today. Both guys should be able to log enough pitches to get through 5 or 6 innings and the weather in Minnesota while not horrible isn’t exactly mid 80’s and screaming high run total today. At least we know in attacking Baltimore that we should get some strikeouts and with Lopez we should be getting some leverage against the Twins.
I don’t like any of the others above this one, so lets rank the other three games from a hitting perspective now.
HITTING STACKS
Rangers and Angels
Warm day games in Anaheim and with the Rangers having Adolis Garcia on fire right now they’ve gotta catch our attention given how bad Canning is vs RH batters. Solak and Garcia leap off the page and I hope Khrush Davis gets a start but he likely won’t. Joey Gallo would be a third must for Texas and for the Angels you have to love Ohtani in a game stack.
Gallo / Garcia / Solak / Ohtani
Mariners and Athletics
Kaprielian is probably gonna be a popular play and yes he ranks at the top of the model but LH bats should hit him and I never endorse playing rookie pitchers as chalk because they are so volatile. Load up on lefties from both sides in this game.
Kelenic / Seager / Olson / Lowrie
Cardinals and White Sox
Should be a warm day game in Chicago but I don’t think we’ll see either pitcher get “blown up” like in the other games so this ranks third. That said, neither guy has a good strikeout match-up at all so we’re not riding the pitchers in this game because of that. Rodon likes to live with heat up in the zone and I can see Goldschmidt getting ahold of one off him today.
Goldy / Carlson / Moncada / Grandal
