The Dongers Club – Sept 16th

Happy TestiFriday with 15 games total but only 14 for DFS as the Rockies and Cubs have a Friday afternoon tilt in Wrigleyville. The highlight of this weekend is going to be a few critical divisional series.  The two big ones which stand out are the Phillies visiting the Braves and the Twins visiting the Guardians.  The other teams who right now are playing well that you should monitor include the White Sox (shocking, I know), Astros and Mariners. Another spot which doesn’t have the full juice that should be good is Orioles at Jays.  The Orioles have faded as expected but this remains a big series.  All total the only series this weekend which have nobody fighting for anything are the Marlins/Nationals and Royals/Red Sox series.  I guess technically the Dodgers/Giants series is irrelevant as well since they have clinched everything. [spacer height=”10px”] WEATHER All games are a go [spacer height=”10px”] For pitching tonight, Justin Verlander is back on the bump, and no we are not using him at 11k in a spot they do not need him to pitch more than 5 innings in. I opted to not take any bait on Max Fried vs Ranger Suarez and same with Triston McKenzie.  I will definitely expect one of the games in those big series to be a pitchers duel with the PHi-ATL potential for tonight to be there, but I just don’t see it with both pitchers today.  Although Fried is GOOD vs Philly. ROBBIE RAY Here is a pitcher who will give you a win, strike out 8 batters and costs under 1k.  Here lies Robbie Ray after dark. LUCAS GIOLITO Just like his teammates, it looks like Giolito is happy to be free from Tony La Russa, and might actually start pitching well down the final weeks of the season. JOSIAH GRAY Young pitchers in September is half the equation here although Gray has been up long enough now that the coffee is more of an Iced Coffee, but the Marlins offense should still give him a 6+ strikeout game. [spacer height=”10px”] It’s a shame the Royals go to Fenway now that it is colder out, that’s a park that team always hits well in no matter who is in the uniform.  No stadium has a big weather boost for offense today but also nobody has a major downgrade.  It’s just ‘nice’ out so lets see […]

The Dongers Club – Sept 15

We have reached the point in the season where there is a lot of content to get too across various sports and most of the information which I would need to share with you regarding Baseball is repetitive about players. So you’ll start to see a shorter write up in terms of expanding upon the picks each day and I’ll just summarize things as necessary. Phillies at Marlins – FanDuel Only – I had to do a double take on this because FD has the extra game and DK did not, which is shocking and sad for DK. [spacer height=”10px”] WEATHER All games are a go [spacer height=”10px”] Very straight forward today.  The key player tonight in this list is Carlos Carrasco at home vs the Pirates going to try and stop the bleeding for the reeling Mets. Carrasco is making his third start since missing some time and after going 6 last outing is very clear to be a must start tonight on DK. If we had a better #2 option then I would be off McCullers, but if you are going cute and avoiding him you might as well be doing an Oakland leverage stack.  One or the other happens. Carlos Carrasco Miles Mikolas Lance McCullers, Jr. Pablo Lopez (FD Only) [spacer height=”10px”] For a full stack scenario, look at warm Target Field and the wind blowing out. San Diego faces an unknown SP and the Cardinals face Chase Anderson, those two teams lead the way for one offs tonight. Troublesome spot tonight is the Mets, who did get some good AB’s last night just not at the right time.  They hit into a bunch of DP and face a big time ground ball pitcher in J.T. Brubaker tonight. Royals/Twins … Perez/Urshela Padres … Myers/Kim Cardinals … Goldy [spacer height=”10px”] CATCHER Salvador Perez Austin Nola [spacer height=”10px”] FIRST BASE Paul Goldschmidt – Has cooled off quite a bit, great spot for him to break out of that slump Danny Boy Vogelbach Vincent Pasquantino [spacer height=”10px”] SECOND BASE Brandon Donovan Ketel Marte [spacer height=”10px”] THIRD BASE Gio Urshela Nolan Arenado [spacer height=”10px”] SHORTSTOP Ha Seong Kim Jeremy Pena [spacer height=”10px”] OUTFIELD – Mt. NFL DFS: TNF Showdown – Chargers vs Chiefs

NOTE: All pricing references pertain to DraftKings Tonight’s Showdown Strategy Showdown tot me is a lot like the speech I always give a youth basketball team at the start of the season.  The most important thing is that we are here to have fun.  The second most important thing is that losing sucks, so lets not […]

The Dongers Club – Sept 14th

We have reached the point in the season where there is a lot of content to get too across various sports and most of the information which I would need to share with you regarding Baseball is repetitive about players. So you’ll start to see a shorter write up in terms of expanding upon the picks each day and I’ll just summarize things as necessary. [spacer height=”10px”] WEATHER All games are a go [spacer height=”10px”] Holy cow what a waste land of pitching options today. It would be very fitting for the Mets to finally get a win from David Peterson on the mound.  If he was a 7k pitcher I would be all over it, but 8600 he’s not going to kill you by fading him. Corbin Burnes Ross Stripling Sonny Gray [spacer height=”10px”] After a relatively quiet series so far I think the Dodgers jump out early tonight but they still fall behind the Rangers and Mets. Rangers Semien, Seager, Lowe, Garcia, Jung Mets Cana, Lindor, Alonso Dodgers Mookie, Trea [spacer height=”10px”] CATCHER Jonah Heim Danny Jansen [spacer height=”10px”] FIRST BASE Freddie Freeman Vlad Guerrero Jr – Hot streak is coming in the next 24-48 hours. Seth Brown [spacer height=”10px”] SECOND BASE Marcus Semien – Dude totally didn’t know he was on deck last night.  Was hilarious he was just lost in space sitting on the bench in that warehouse of a stadium last night and someone said Yo Marcus, you are up.  Random note… Just funny. Gleyber Torres [spacer height=”10px”] THIRD BASE Josh Jung – Cheap, free, and good. PGA DFS Dew Sweeper – Fortinet

Fortinet Championship It’s time for the “Wrap-Around” or “Silly Season” that starts the new 2022-23 PGA Tour season and FedEx Cup race.  This year will be interesting.  Especially when we get to the cage match between the PGA Tour and the LIV Tour. My opinion?  Which really doesn’t matter, but I think it’s right that […]

The Dongers Club – Sept 14th-early

We have reached the point in the season where there is a lot of content to get too across various sports and most of the information which I would need to share with you regarding Baseball is repetitive about players. So you’ll start to see a shorter write up in terms of expanding upon the picks each day and I’ll just summarize things as necessary. This article is breaking down the quick early 4 game slate this Wednesday Afternoon Angels at Guardians Astros at Tigers Rockies at White Sox Pirates at Reds [spacer height=”10px”] WEATHER All games are a go [spacer height=”10px”] This is pretty easy for me today.  The one pitcher who I think is going to be popular that I will not touch is Cristian Javier and with him only being $600 cheaper than Cease that’s a no brainer for SP1. The value in Contreras over Lodolo or Javier is worth taking as an SP2, although I would not be shocked to see Kyle Freeland pitch well enough to use in a game stack on the Southside game. Dylan Cease (DK: $10,300, FD: $10,800) Roansy Contreras (DK: $6,500) Kyle Freeland – SP2 game stack with Cease on DK [spacer height=”10px”] Statistically the Astros should murder Joey Wentz today and the wind is blowing out with a relatively decent Dew Point in that game as well.  Hard to ignore their RHH who are not that expensive (Pena, Mancini, McCormick) The game in Cincinnati despite having two good young pitchers is obviously one to consider as well given how well Bryan Reynolds is hitting for the Buccos and the small park. Astros / Tigers Angels / Guardians Pirates [spacer height=”10px”] CATCHER Eric Haase Austin Hedges [spacer height=”10px”] FIRST BASE Shohei Ohtani Michael Chavis [spacer height=”10px”] SECOND BASE Jose Altuve – $6,000 very hard to fit, so look here with a Houston + Cease/Freeland build David Fletcher [spacer height=”10px”] THIRD BASE Alex Bregman KeBryan Hayes Jose Ramirez [spacer height=”10px”] SHORTSTOP Jeremy Pena Elvis Andrus [spacer height=”10px”] OUTFIELD – Mt. Rushmore Trey Mancini Bryan Reynolds Riley Greene Andrew Vaughn [spacer height=”10px”] Jeremy Pena – SS – Astros – Chairman of the Dongers Club [spacer height=”12px”] CORE PLAYS Cease/Castro + HOU/LAA/CLE Cease/Freeland + Houston Stack [spacer height=”10px”] BETTING PLAYS Astros + White Sox + Pirates ML Parlay [spacer height=”10px”]

The Dongers Club – Sept 13th

There are two Double-Headers today (PIT-CIN and TB-TOR), both are not on FanDuel and only TB-TOR is on DraftKings MAIN slate tonight. WEATHER No issues tonight. [spacer height=”10px”] We have a lot of good pitching tonight, which is headlined by Jacob deGrom looking to deliver a shutdown performance for the reeling Mets against the lowly Chicago Cubs. JACOB deGROM You shouldn’t be in a spot where you are trying to ‘load up on bats’ as the donkeys in the industry like to say today.  So why not take the most sure thing on the board in deGrom. KYLE WRIGHT Wright should be strong today, he has gotten 10+ swinging strikes in 3 of his last four and that included a solid start vs Houston.  The Giants offense lacks some good plate discipline right now so I would expect Wright to have a good game as long as his defense doesn’t screw up behind him. DEAN KREMER Kremer isn’t much of anything special however the younger Nats have really jumped up their strikeout rate and should give him enough tonight to warrant use as a cheap SP2. [spacer height=”10px”] WHITE SOX Robert, Jimenez, Abreu, Moncada, Vaughn Amazing how removing Tony LaRussa has made the White Sox good again.  These boys owe us so much money and we’re gonna keep recouping it all the way to the end of the season.  Lets ride with Chicago against the worst bullpen in the league. ORIOLES Mountcastle, Urias, Henderson, Hays A little expensive on the Orioles side up top, so you really gotta focus on Mountcastle-Urias-Henderson to produce here with Austin Hays being a key to a full stack.  I love Adley, but $5400 is tough with deGrom locking up so much salary today. RANGERS Jung, Heim, Lowe So long as Josh Jung is min price he is the new ‘Vaughn Grissom’ type that we just lock in due to a DK pricing algo error. [spacer height=”10px”] CATCHER Adley Rutschmann Jonah Heim Salvador Perez [spacer height=”10px”] FIRST BASE Nathaniel Lowe Vinnie Pasquantino Ryan Mountcastle Jose Abreu [spacer height=”10px”] SECOND BASE Very weak position today so punt this on FD, but lock in Gunnar here on DK Gunnar Henderson (DK) Trevor Story [spacer height=”10px”] THIRD BASE Josh Jung Yoan Moncada Ramon Urias Nolan Arenado [spacer height=”10px”] SHORTSTOP Is Bo Bichette playing?  If yes, next question.  If no, then tell him to play please. Elvis Andrus Corey […]

The Dongers Club – Sept 12th

Many thanks to Marsella, Geriak and the Wiserman for their contributions while I was eating Italian Food, Drinking lots of Vino and getting a little Sun out on the coast of Italy the past week. But let’s be honest …. It’s good to be back. [spacer height=”10px”] WEATHER No issues tonight other than the Chase Field Roof still being broken, which is an issue but nothing that causes us DFS issues. Of course the other issue is that the Angels and Guardians series is likely to avoid all the DFS main slates this week, which is really a bummer for all of our Ohtani Chairman picks. [spacer height=”10px”] Not only am I back tonight, but so is Jon Gray as he is pitching the second game of the Rangers-Marlins double header in Miami and you do not need to bother with that for $8,800 on DraftKings.  This game is not on FD. SPENCER STRIDER After a couple hiccups Strider is really on cruise control right now and should have no problem throwing gas past the Giants lineup this evening out in San Francisco. CHRIS BASSITT The Cubs have long ago stopped hitting and are going to make sure that they plummet their team stats all the way down to make us all look smart at the end of the year in regards to them being horrific.  Bassitt at home is almost certain to be a 6+ IP guy with a big probability that he gives the Mets a 7 inning start tonight much like his last outing.  The great thing here with both Strider and Bassitt is these teams are fighting each other off to see who can not Falcon away the division — hey did you see the Falcons blow a 26-10 lead yesterday?  That was fun. Oh, where was I.  Ah yes, take the pay up options on DK tonight with these two arms. RYNE NELSON It’s September so we need to be aware of cheap SP sleeepers tonight.  Braxton Garrett almost got some consideration but I like picking on teams who just clinched a playoff berth and the Dodgers are that team for me tonight.  The roof is closed and the Dodgers are going to be UBER chalk for all the NFL $$ that is coming over to MLB tonight.  He’s a leverage and has upside at this $6,200 price tag. [spacer height=”10px”] Guys I just do […]
