The Dongers Club – April 26th

The link to tonight’s Dongers Club Member Appreciation Contest is Below.  No rules on your lineup and free to enter but remember this is a 2 day contest with the second part being on Friday.  Total cumulative points between the two nights is used for the Standings. In May’s contest we will have some ‘creative’ rules spread across a full week… DraftKings Link For – April Dongers Club Contest [spacer height=”20px”] WEATHER Some rain to monitor today, including, yes, the Nationals … Marlins at Nationals – Light Rain, Fall like conditions.  Rain should taper off and I would suspect this game plays just fine (Famous last words!) Orioles at Yankees – Not as clear here, nor is this a game I want any part of.  Crossing it off… Hope the roof is closed in Toronto Chilly in New Comiskey (Chicago) Roof likely open in Texas, Arizona Overall, it’s just chilly/cold not humid everywhere.  Lots of long fly outs today. [spacer height=”20px”] It would have been nice for all those ace’s last night to be on today’s slate instead. CARLOS RODON Rodon should be 70% owned if not higher in some contests today.  He’s the best pitcher on the slate who is pitching lights out with his new team and is pitching in an extremely friendly environment at home against an extremely friendly lineup in the Athletics. KEVIN GAUSMAN I put a lot of stock into taking the safe floor on pitching right now and Gausman is the next best thing after Rodon in that regard.  The positives are easy looking at his pitch profile with a near 30% strikeout rate to both LH and RH batters and the fact that he controlled these Red Sox bats last week in Fenway.  The negative though is exactly that — he just faced this team.  But only Devers is hitting the ball hard consistently for Boston and he has never done well against Gausman. DANIEL LYNCH Two lefties will face off in Chicago in a game which I would project for the under to cruise in easily today.  Neither team is hitting much (although KC is arguably better lately than Chicago), and the idea of using Dallas Keuchel off his disaster start mid week last week is not one to be comforted by.  Lynch on the other hand is a lone bright spot of consistency among the young Royals arms & is trending […]

NBA Plays round one continue tonight with a three game slate starting at 7p.m. Celtics lead the Nets and this series could end tonight. Let’s call it a sweep and move on. The Dongers Club – April 25th

*** ANNOUNCEMENT *** We are doing the monthly Dongers Club Appreciation contests once again this year and the first one will be this week.  It’s going to be combined between Tuesday and Friday this week.  For those new, here is how it works. In the article for Tomorrow (TUE) and Friday there will be a link to a FREE DraftKings Member Only Contest.  You simply need to enter and put in a lineup following the rules for this month.  The combined scores from both contests will be used and prizes are given out to first, second and third place. April Prizes: First Place – $283 cash + Swag Second Place – Swag Third Place – 10 Bonus points for the May contest. Look for the LINK tomorrow. [spacer height=”20px”] Monday, April 25th Today we have a 7 game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel has just 5 because it appears they decided to fire the person who setup their slates on Saturday for the simple fact that they just couldn’t live with actually doing the right thing.  We have zero reason why the games in Milwaukee and Philadelphia need to start early and zero reason why they shouldn’t be a part of the ‘Main’ slate tonight, but hey — that’s FanDuel for ya. So yes, the San Francisco Giants are playing a one day road trip in Milwaukee tonight as part of this updated schedule, it’s not a full series and they are in and out to finish up their long road trip. WEATHER There should be no issues with the 7 games playing today, but we have some roof situations to monitor Toronto – Roof will be closed due to the fact that it’s A: Raining and B: Toronto in April. Milwaukee – Roof should be closed Texas – Roof could be open here, really is 50/50 Arizona – Roof should be open – good for hitting [spacer height=”20px”] There’s a Mt. Rushmore of ‘Names’ today with Burnes, Bieber, Scherzer and Buehler being the four top end arms whom three of which come into tonight’s starts off back to back good outings.  The one who isn’t is Buehler and that was a game we didn’t touch him in his last start but I would expect he pitches VERY well in a stadium he has always seemed to be annoyed with the opposing team in.  With these four plus another couple […]

Sunday Dongers Club – April 24th

So check this shit out, we got a Sunday slate with some warmer games and Site Synchronicity which also includes a 5 game Tilt Slate at 4:00 PM and then the Tilt-Tilt Showdown between Milwaukee and Philadelphia tonight. A very fine Sunday indeed. WEATHER No major issues unless you consider 16 mph winds in Wrigley to be an issue of course.  Yes, they are blowing out but they will once again have some precipitation in the area.  Wrigley after the Bears defense dominated the Steelers yesterday off a strong performance from Matt Forte and their defense will probably draw some attention, but as we know, when there is a blowout like that it usually runs the opposite direction.  So I expect a solid game from Antwaan Randle El or someone else today on the Pittsburgh side if anything… All games play, here are the other windy spots 17 MPH winds out in Target Field to left field.  Which is nothing compared to the blowing that the White Sox are doing right now.  It’s chilly there too, sub 50. Windy in Houston as well, warm and potential for roof to be closed.  If roof is open then hold onto your hats. 14 MPH winds out in Cincinnati.  Kind of a cross wind, but …. well, we’ll get to this. Winds IN at Comerica. [spacer height=”20px”] Logan Webb I am certainly one who believes that it is hard to sweep teams and there could be a scenario where the Giants manage to not sweep the Nationals.  But, then you remember the Nationals roll out Alcides Escobar, Victor Robles, a banged up Josh Bell and Maikel Franco and then you feel much better about this being a very simple spot for Logan Webb. Gerrit Cole I’ll bite. Cole was horrific against the Tigers — or so that’s what everyone wants you to believe.  In that game he was getting to 3-2 counts without being able to find a way to put them away and managed to just not have anything against the bottom of their order before the quick hook came. You can point out the obvious in relation to the sticky stuff with Cole and also that the Guardians are a low strikeout team.  But to me Cole is not going to worry about trying to strike everyone out today and in a Chilly and wind blowing in afternoon in his small […]

The High Line – Cup Series – Geico 500 – Talladega Superspeedway – April 24, 2022

Overview Yesterday’s XFINITY race was about as exciting as you could ask for yesterday and today’s Cup race should be right on par. The Cup drivers will turn 188 laps to cover the 500-lap event. Talladega Superspeedway is a 2.66-mile asphalt superspeedway with high-banked turns which, in case you’re unaware creates a pack-racing atmosphere requiring […]

The Dongers Club – April 23rd (Main)

Tonight’s Main Slate Games Marlins at Braves Mets at Diamondbacks Dodgers at Padres Orioles at Angels Royals at Mariners Obviously in those locations the weather is good. [spacer height=”20px”] Noah Syndergaard Thor at home in 2022.  Things we have been on since he signed with the Angels last November and will be on all year long.  Load up on Thor on a slate with very dicey pitching choices Yu Darvish Darvish was much more comfortable in his last start as he continues to work his way into the season and I expect this to be one of the lower scoring games tonight. [spacer height=”20px”] Fade – Matt Brash  I honestly want to — and will be — fading Brash tonight, but be aware that he is going to be a very popular play given his filthy stuff and the Royals typical lack of ability to hit the Baseball and definitely against guys they haven’t seen.  He could dominate the slate or be the best leverage fade on it, the choice is yours and my recommendation is you fade him. [spacer height=”20px”] ANGELS Mike Trout, Jared Walsh, Max Stassi, Shohei Ohtani It’s warm in LA (duh) and while Thor should be cruising against a Orioles lineup which is RH heavy, the Angels should carve up Spenser Watkins METS / DIAMONDBACKS Mets:  Marte, Alonso, Escobar Diamondbacks:  Marte, Peralta, Smith Roof expected to be open in Arizona which is a big boost and Trevor Williams should not be on your lineup tonight since the Diamondbacks take a lot of pitches and he walks too many hitters when he struggles. ROYALS / MARINERS Royals:  Salvy, Witt, Benintendi Mariners:  Rodriguez, France, Suarez My favorite under the radar spot tonight for offense.  These teams saw a good amount of each other late in Spring Training and I think the hitters will get comfortable with the bullpen arms they might see — to include the Mariners should hit Bubic hard. [spacer height=”20px”] CATCHER Max Stassi Salvador Perez FIRST BASE Matt Olson Pete Alonso SECOND BASE Whit Merrifield Eduardo Escobar THIRD BASE Eugenio Suarez Eduardo Escobar Austin Riley SHORTSTOP Francisco Lindor Bobby Witt Jr OUTFIELD – Mt. The Dongers Club – April 23rd (Afternoon)

This is breaking down the Afternoon slate, which is kind of the best slate today. White Sox vs Twins Brewers vs Phillies Rangers vs Athletics Cardinals vs Reds Blue Jays vs Astros Red Sox vs Rays (FanDuel Only) Zack Wheeler The guy in the graphic above is coming off a bad start but is also forgiven because he is still working through things early in the season.  Milwaukee in an afternoon game at home is a massive cure spot for Wheeler to go bananas today.  Do not fade. Martin Perez Perez is just what we need as an SP2 on this short slate.  He draws a bad offense, is pretty dirt cheap and should win vs the Athletics. [spacer height=”20px”] CARDINALS vs REDS Carlson, Dickerson, DeJong – St. Louis Joey Votto, Tommy Pham, Nick Senzel – Cincinnati The great news is that the Cardinals didn’t fully go off last night and so now my annual tradition of always playing the Cardinals in Cincnnati is surely to come through vs Tyler Mahle right?  It will be near 80 degrees in Great American Smallpark today which will make this our first big explosion over game of the season as this game has no fewer than 4+ HR in it. PHILLIES Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, Rhys Hoskins Houser throws his sinker 60% of the time to lefties and they smash it.  Harper and Schwarber will be very happy to see that and Rhys Hoskins says hey, I am the king of the Saturday Club today boys! JAYS Matt Chapman, George Springer, Bo Bichette, Vlad Guerrero Jr (FD Build) [spacer height=”20px”] CATCHER Yasmani Grandal JT Realmuto Aramis Garcia FIRST BASE Joseph Votto Rhys Hoskins SECOND BASE Nick Senzel Marcus Semien THIRD BASE Luis Arraez Colin Moran Matt Chapman SHORTSTOP Paul DeJong Didi Gregorious Corey Seager OUTFIELD – Mt. The Dongers Club – April 23rd (Early)

I will do three brief articles for the three slates today.  It’s rare that we have an evenly distributed triple header and so I’ll give thoughts on all the games to help you with DFS, Betting, Prop Bets or just Bar Trivia on this fine Saturday afternoon. This article is covering the first slate, which is the Early slate on our Dashboard and features San Francisco at Washington Former Giant Aaron Sanchez will be pitching for the Nationals today.  Giddy up! Cleveland at NY Yankees Happy Yankee Stadium Saturday UNDERS season! Colorado at Detroit Game 1 of Doubleheader Pittsburgh at Chicago Cubs This game will have winds blowing out 15+ mph out to left field and will be in the low to mid 70’s.  It’s going to be a target offense game for that reason. [spacer height=”20px”] THE GOOD Nestor Cortes and Tarik Skubal are the two pitchers who should have the most upside based upon their talent capabilities alone today and pricing wise they fit in fairly well together.  Cortes has the least amount of risk in my mind of the two even though the Tribe are a top offense YTD.  If Cortes is on his game as I expect he will go over his 5.5 strikeout prop (-135 on DK) too.  Skubal has been very up and down in his short career and is expected to take a big step forward this season for the Rockies.  There are a couple big problem bats for him, but he could excel today. Alex Wood and Kyle Hendricks are your steady as they go options.  Wood is clear cut ahead of Hendricks even given Kyle’s better splits at home because most of that is in a night game and today the weather is prime for offense in Wrigley.  So it’s Wood who we trust the most as our SP2 to pair with the upside of either Cortes or Skubal. THE CONTRARIAN Cal Quantrill makes for an interesting ‘leverage’ or pivot play.  I project the game in Yankee Stadium to be low scoring. THE UGLY Zach Thompson has the look of a dude who wants to desperately add “give up 7 runs without recording an out”  on to his 2022 Resume.  Probably not that extreme for it to come today, but not worth the risk at all given the Cubs lack of Whiff % this season and his own inability to dominate. Aaron […]

NBA DFS DROPPIN DIMES(Playoff Edition)-Friday, April 22nd

The NBA playoffs continue with a 3-game slate tonight starting at 7:00p.m. The “Droppin Dimes,” article will go over my favorite plays for the slate. It will consist of three to five core plays  along with some additional plays and some value plays. You will not always see the highest-priced players or the most obvious […]
