NBA DFS DROPPIN DIMES(Playoff Edition)- Sunday, April 17th

The NBA playoffs started yesterday with a 4-game slate and today we get another 4 gamer with the other eight teams. Slate starts at 1:00pm. This is a good time of the year because you will not see players resting or being ruled out right before lock for no reason. Certain players step up during […]

Sunday Dongers Club – April 17th

I smell a no hitter coming.  Might not be today, but one is coming. Happy Easter.  Just the article for the MAIN Sunday slate and likely no notes for the afternoon slate or the showdown in Discord today but I really like the Padres tonight on SNB.   Now for the question you have all been waiting for. Do we have Site Synchronicity on a Sunday?  The odds are low with Texas and Colorado both having home games, and the answer is. But in a shocking plot twist, it’s FanDuel who has the Angels-Rangers game and not DraftKings. WEATHER Cold games today and the Tigers vs Royals is a PPD Risk, avoid it at all costs. We should see the roof open in Miami, closed in Toronto and closed in Milwaukee and open in Texas (FD). [spacer height=”20px”] When I start my slate analysis I look at the games before I check my model.  Today I went through, found my 4 guys and then clicked over to the model and said alright model, whatcha got…. And it gave me the exact same four guys.  Shocking, considering I wrote the algo in the model… ALEK MANOAH Unlike Wheeler, he has been pitching through the Spring and made a full strength start facing 23 batters with 7 K over 6 innings, so he should be slightly ahead of Wheeler still today and the heavy portion of the A’s lineup is RHH which hit .285 xSLG off Manoah last year. ZACK WHEELER Wheeler faced 19 batters in his debut vs the Mets and simply has to pitch well around his sins to Jesus Aguilar today and he’ll finish in the upper 17-19 DK FPTS range without even breaking a sweat. NESTOR CORTES A lot is being made already about Camden Yards not giving up HR with the wall change and I would like to remind you that it’s the middle of April and they are in Baltimore, Maryland.  Of course the ball isnt flying out of there every single game, not to mention the Yankees and Brewers aren’t what people think they could be. Either way though, the park is definitely better for LHP now and with the cold weather and the Orioles lineup we can look at Cortes for 5+ IP and potentially a 7 K game.  The O’s are looking to take more pitches this year but his command should be on.  […]

The Dongers Club – April 16th (Main)

WEATHER No issues tonight and Texas has kept the roof open at least to start the game. [spacer height=”20px”] Maybe tonight is a big trap spot as Saturday nights are a little weird, but this feels very straight forward and obvious on the pitching front today, not going to mess around and get very cute. […]

The Dongers Club – April 16th (Early)

We destroyed last night and I was very close on some qualifiers to a live final which I know some others were chasing as well and I am rooting for us to all Ambush that this year — if that is your desire to do such.  And no, you do not need to be MAX […]

The NBA playoffs start today with a 4-game slate starting at 1:00pm. This is a good time of the year because you will not see players resting or being ruled out right before lock for no reason. Certain players step up during the playoffs where other will struggle. A good time to play NBA with […]

The Dongers Club – April 15th

Happy Friday from The Dongers Club.  It’s a great day today as MacKenzie Gore makes his Major League Debut for the San Diego Padres and the entire league is recognizing my guy making his debut by wearing #42.  Oh, wait, that’s for Jackie Robinson…  Right… About Mr. Gore.  We have a strict rule here in The Dongers Club which has worked out FAR more than it has busted for us and that is we don’t chase a dirt cheap SP making his debut when they are chalk.  Here are all teh limitations with the rookies. The ceiling is a hard cap because they have a shorter leash than ever in their ML debut. The risk that a pitcher pulls a Mitch Keller or Jackson Kowar and can’t find home plate, let alone the catchers glove is extremely high and they’ll go through many full counts, have lots of walks and drive their pitch count up even higher. Advanced scouting on a pitcher is always easier than advanced scouting on a hitter and in game good veteran hitters can pick up when a pitcher does not have a third pitch after one inning. They get overhyped by “industry analysts” who want to be cool and think they did research overnight on a cheap SP to “pay up for all the bats”, which is not how you should play MLB DFS… All that said, MacKenzie Gore has been the pitcher which I have hyped and touted the most.  He has gone through struggles in 2020/2021 with injuries and just being off with his command and timing, but his Fall work last year and Spring this year was back to the elite level which had him as the #1 pitching prospect in Baseball drawing comparisons to Clayton Kershaw. He’s a lefty who has a big leg kick and while the Kershaw comp is one I buy he really does his damage with his hard breaking Curve-Ball.  If he utilizes his Change or Slider more then he will dominate. I expect Gore to have 1-2 innings tonight where he dazzles and one inning for sure where he gives up 2 hits, 2 walks and 1-2 runs scored as he gets into trouble, most likely the third inning.  I have waited for this day for a few years, so that’s why I gave the full breakdown in the intro unlike other rookie pitchers which we […]
