We have Patrick Corbin who is just ITCHING.  I mean, ITCHING, to end his season here soon and coming off a really good start. Max Scherzer is also on the bump, and also looking for a new home. There’s Kenta Maeda getting a start again.  Corbin Burnes in south beach and Chris Bassitt against the Lefties Lowe’s in Toronto. Boys and Girls.  This one, it’s a good one. WEATHER All clear   CORBIN BURNES (DK: $9500, FD: $10.7k) While the entire Orioles lineup is either really hungover from last night in South Beach or so young that they can still play through it I trust that Burnes was resting peacefully last night and is ready to take over the reigns finally and put to bed any questions about the Baltimore rotation. MAX SCHERZER (DK: $8600, FD: $9300) I trust that the White Sox are more done than Max is right now. GAVIN WILLIAMS (DK: $7800) Gavin Williams is probably chalky because he should not get hit hard by the Tigers.  Not a bad pivot off Max IMO.   Also do not mind:  Taj Bradley I’m just gonna say that I like about 80% of the offenses today, making this a perfect one off slate in my eyes.  But sure, go ahead and focus on building around stacks if you want. WEATHER All games play   CHRIS SALE (DK: $10.5k, FD: $11.2k) There are three aces going tonight in Sale, Gilbert and Wheeler, but it is Sale going against the young Reds who pushes us to take a shot on him the most as that 10-12 strikeout type game is just lingering out there tonight.  The young reds at the bottom of the order like Marte & Hinds are where Sale wins or loses this game tonight because he should do just fine with the top end. LOGAN GILBERT (DK: $10k, FD: $10.8k) Hard to not just take some high end pitching and go value hunting on the hitting & while I like Wheeler he is not pitching in T-Mobile Park against the Angels like my guy Gilbert here is. COLIN REA (DK: $7400, FD: $8400) If we go for another type of build tonight it would not be fading all 3 of the big arms, it would just be finding one pivot to allow for an easier hitting construction.  The Cubs know they are sellers and a lineup with a good amount of guys who don’t know where they’ll be living soon are playing like it.  Rea should have a nice boring game which doesn’t hurt us. OTHER PITCHING THOUGHTS We are approaching the “Darkhorse” pitcher part of the season when a pitcher who has been around long enough to figure things out puts up their one dominant start of the season.  I’m not sure I trust many to do that tonight but the public might do this with Jon Gray (DK: $7000).  Maybe Jose Berrios has one more of those in him? Yes, Garrett Crochet could be considered as the 4th ace going tonight.  I’m not sold.   Given the pitching path tonight it’s all about multiple value hitters to formulate a “stack”. BLUE JAYS George Springer, Vlad Guerrero Jr, Justin Turner, Danny Jansen George Springer made a change to his swing and that along with moving back up to the #1 hole has really sparked him to be a stud hitter.  He’s white hot and Vlad Guerrero has been the best 1st Baseman over the last 1-2 months as well but they’re both sub 5k.  Combined with Turner and Jansen we can fit this full stack in while being in a favorable hitters park and getting a likely bullpen game from the Rays who are quickly approaching play out […]

WEATHER All games will play   HUNTER GREENE (DK: $8200, FD: $9900) Fried on the IL now, Albies out for a long time, and the wheels on the bus are falling off, falling off, falling off, the wheels on the bus are falling off, good-night, Atlanta…  Yes, the savior of Nacho Alvarez Jr., simply an elite name, could provide a spark – but he’s not in the player pool and the rest of the team is not gonna touch Greene. BRYCE MILLER (DK: $8400, FD: $8600) We have enough data by this point in the season to just go with what we trust the most for 2/3 of the picks and then a gut call after that.  Bryce Miller (Seattle pitchers at home) is welcoming in a swing happy Angels lineup, so he is easily a top 3 SP tonight on my list. BLAKE SNELL (DK: $7500, FD: $7400) Ladies and Gentlemen … OTHER PITCHING THOUGHTS Can Tyler Anderson repeat his start from July 6th?  No chance.  Can he do well against a bad Seattle lineup?  Yes.  Good enough for top 3?  No. Austin Gomber is dangerous but Boston is also not hitting LHP with exception and played the night game last night before coming into Coors late tonight.  Better off just betting Colorado on the ML if you want to go Gomber though.   WHITE SOX Andrew Vaughn, Thomas Pham, Luis Robert Jr., Paul Dejong This is two years running now that Lorenzen gives up really hard contact to the RH side of the plate, which against most teams is just mediocre bad, but against the White Sox that’s literally the one thing you can’t do.  I haven’t taken many shots with the White Sox this year, but tonight — I am. We have a big Sunday afternoon of Baseball with 11 games on the MAIN DraftKings slate while FanDuel has included the Giants/Rockies game on their MAIN slate.  Everything starts up at 1:05 PM with the Brewers/Twins being the ‘Early’ Sunday game today. Sweeps?? The following teams are going for sweeps today, and if you are like me, you should either bank on most of them completing the sweeps or all of them losing.  It’s my belief that sweeps out of the ASB are not uncommon. Milwaukee Pittsburgh Washington Detroit Kansas City Arizona Baltimore WEATHER Everything should be fine although the Brewers/Twins game could see rain coming in during the end of the game.   KEVIN GAUSMAN (DK: $8800, FD: $9500) Normally I don’t trust Gausman in day games, but it’s just too boring to really consider other SP1 options today.  He’s either gonna not make it out of the first inning and a Detroit stack puts up 15 runs or he does what he should and that’s 7 innings with 9 strikeouts only to see the bullpen lose it in the 9th SETH LUGO (DK: $9700, FD: $10.8k) 6 innings, 1 ER, 6 strikeouts, 2 hits.  Blah, Blah, Blah.  The White Sox suck. BRANDON PFAADT (DK: $8300, FD: $8500) This one really falls into the “sweep” category.  Chicago has had some really bad PA in the first two games and I expect that to continue today while Pfaadt is trusted enough to carry the water for Arizona’s rotation in the second half. SUNDAY SLEEPERS Spencer Schwellenbach Keider Montero   PIRATES Andrew McCutchen, Oneil Cruz, Rowdy Tellez, Bryan Reynolds I think the most impressive thing about Phillies RHP Tyler Phillips is that he has not walked a batter through 10 big league innings.  Eight days between appearances now he gets to go back on the road and odds are that trend will not continue today. ROYALS Hunter Renfroe, Michael Massey, Bobby Witt Jr. You know you are a bad pitching staff when Hunter Renfroe is having a nice series against you.  He doubled yesterday and homers today. BRAVES Jarred Kelenic, Matt Olson, Ozzie Albies Not even the Braves are swing happy enough to help out Miles Mikolas. Just this one article for today because in the second half of the season MLB really stops with the heavy Saturday afternoon slates.  There was a TON of bad Baseball defense last night with guys making throws they shouldn’t make and throwing the ball away.  Hopefully that cleans up today, but I also expect today, tomorrow and Monday to be advantage hitting as they get their reps in but the pitchers who are going are on a LONG extended break.  Look for runs early in games and then they just fizzle out. WEATHER I just needed to share the brilliance of this commercial, it is me… All games play, but holy cow, check out that Dewpoint in Atlanta!   BRADY SINGER (DK: $8100, FD: $9000) Singer is on normal rest and really should have the advantage against about 7 of the hitters in the White Sox lineup today.   Unless of course Angel Hernandez is coming out of retirement to screw him over…  You can just see that the White Sox wanted no part of coming back to play right now.  This will be a Royal sweep and I doubt any SP gives up more than 1 ER in the entire series. FRAMBER VALDEZ (DK: $7900, FD: $9500) Pitchers in Seattle and wow what is up with the cheap price?  Framber’s good on the road and in this park without hitters getting a ton of barrels he should avoid any HR risk as well. OTHER PITCHING THOUGHTS Pablo Lopez might look like someone worth taking a shot on here, but he has been really bad at home & there’s enough still in the Milwaukee lineup that I am avoiding him tonight.  Freddy Peralta could be definitely a viable option on the other side. Gallen, Webb, Kirby — All OK.  But my guys are above.   ROYALS LHH have hit Cannon fairly well and he has not been able to show a strong swing and miss upside at the big league level.  Really like Pasquantino, against Cannon specifically but kinda trust Frazier and Massey to have BIG games more. WEATHER Cardinals at Braves:  Chance of storms here. All games should play   GERRIT COLE (DK: $9000, FD: $9600) … So are we just gonna apply the Max Fried rule on Cole all season long, because the guy should be a 10k pitcher very soon and in a normal scenario when facing Tampa Bay he should be an 11k or 12k pitcher — ON BOTH SITES.  Unless Tampa somehow signs Ji-Man Choi back to their roster before 7pm tonight I don’t see anyone in Tampa’s lineup having much success off Cole.  He’s got no real restrictions & should be 90% owned tonight as he puts up a 27.5 on draftkings.. HUNTER BROWN (DK: $8400, FD: $9100) … A lot of fantasy people soured on Brown real quick late last year and early into this season and I was close to doing so myself but there’s no doubting that he’s quite possibly the Ace of the Astros staff in this second half. Going into Seattle has been a blessing for pitchers and we’ve known about some guys complaining in regards to the batters eye (although it never bothered Nelson Cruz, Mike Trout or Mike Zunino, ahem…) but I heard something VERY interesting over the all-star break.  It was in regards to Teoscar Hernandez and his time with the Mariners and the claimed that the batters box was diagonal to the pitcher, or at least he felt like that was the case.  Most likely this is a depth/eye perception issue but we cannot ignore the constant data this year telling us that guys just cannot hit in SafeCo/T-Mobile Park.  That includes the home town Mariners and between Brown and Castillo in this game, I lean Brown more just because I hate Castillo knowing that at any point he can rip your balls out like a pissed off and hungry hyeena. OTHER PITCHING THOUGHTS Nick Pivetta is one of the more interesting spots tonight.  He was clearly in a bad groove for almost a month and couldn’t get his location right, couldn’t get whiffs and just couldn’t be trusted.  Then the magic of facing the Marlins and Athletics in back to back spots seems to have gotten his confidence back and now a 9 day break to get his energy back could prove to be a perfect adrenaline rush to just come out and ball out for 5-7 innings against the Dodgers at […]
