The Dongers Club: Fall Classic Predictions

The MLB post-season is here and we have a new era beginning now as there are three Wild Card teams in each league which gives us four three game series to start things off. This Friday is now one of my new favorite days of the year, replacing what historically was four Divisional Round games being played on the first Friday in October.  Now this will be four Wild Card games being played all day long with your favorite cold beverage, nice warm food and all day Baseball on T.V. To begin things, we start with looking at who I believe is going to win each round and who you should place league winner and World Series bets on right now. I will have a Dongers Club article that outlines the picks for any 4 game slate throughout the playoffs, which obviously won’t be many and then in Discord I will have picks and on special days maybe a special 3 game article.  Feel free to hit me up on Discord or Twitter for my thoughts if you want them (or if you want to just fade). [spacer height=”16px”] What wins in the playoffs? Historically I value teams who have two things in the playoffs.  A defined and quality bullpen and a defined lineup with preference on teams having a CORE 7+ hitters who start every game over the platoon teams. With this format, the first round is the only one which really changes as those are three game sets which are all played in the home teams ballpark.  I think the right strategy in those series is for teams to prioritize winning that first game as if it was a single elimination spot.  You can increase the leverage spots in game two by doing this and so the team who top to bottom is better should win game 1 and thus sets up better importantly for game 3 if necessary. The teams who have a bye will have a layoff and that’s a concern for them coming out in that first game more than usual.  In prior years there would always be a series on each side where both teams had equal layoff, and now all four teams getting a BYE will be facing a team who is coming in having played games.  The advantage is for the team who played games as their hitters won’t be rusty and […]

PGA DFS Dew Sweeper – Shriners Classic

Heading to Sin City!  I like this event!  Not because of the monster field it gets (it doesn’t) or the fact that it’s in a place where gambling is king (it really is).  I like it because The Shriners do a lot of good things and, to me, few sports are as transparent about raising […]

NFL Week 4 – The AMBUSH

Welcome to Week 4, we are almost to the BYE portion of the season and this week we have our first London Game as well, so one less game on the MAIN slate. Sorry, that means no Andy Dalton in the Ambush this week and I know you are all super disappointed by this. [spacer […]

NFL DFS: The Sunday Stacks – Week 4

Stacks That I Have My Eye On Below I’ll break down the particular stacks I’m interested and delve into it based on matchup, ability, predicted game script, and collective salary while picking an opposing player or two to run that stack back with if appropriate. *Note: All pricing is DraftKings focused   Buffalo Bills (at […]

NFL DFS: Week 4 London Showdown

Game Theory I actually believe the Saints will have one of their more complete games this week.  They historically have traveled well and play well when they are away from home for an entire week practicing together.  The switch from Jameis Winston to Andy Dalton should actually benefit the struggling offense in the short term […]

CFB DFS Tailgate: Oct 1st

Welcome to October College Football.  We are blessed with five full Saturday’s this month and even more blessed to have a bunch of games that should be very competitive on this slate. Highest Totals Oklahoma @ TCU Wake Forest @ Florida St Alabama @ Arkansas Iowa State @ Kansas Michigan State @ Maryland Tier II: […]

The Dongers Club – Sept 30th

This is the final regular season MLB Dongers Club article for 2022.  As of now, there are no plans to not be back in 2023 for what should be a very different season as teams play a more balanced schedule.  I look forward to coming back and having another successful season next year. Yes, we will be continuing with the playoffs and some post-season content but until next season for the regular season Dongers Club I say thank you and farewell. [spacer height=”10px”] WEATHER Looks like just one game will get hit tonight with potential PPD risks and naturally it is the second game of a double header in Washington. Phillies @ Nationals – Rain [spacer height=”10px”] Best game of the day is Max Fried against Jacob deGrom, I can see both dropping their nuts on the table for an epic 2-1 gem but there are safer options on the board. CORBIN BURNES Milwaukee is fighting with the Phillies to see who can bow out of the wild card race first.  It’s quite the battle between these two non winning organizations to see who can suck more.  But I’m gonna give Burnes the benefit of the doubt to produce a good fantasy score tonight, even if he gets zero run support against Sandy Alcantara. YU DARVISH One of the least shocking things about the season has been how quickly the White Sox said yep, we’re done with this shit after they were finally officially eliminated from play.  Darvish shouldn’t push much past 6 innings today but San Diego needs him to do what he should vs the White Sox to continue their push to locking up the 2nd wild card. NICK PIVETTA I’m just picking on a team who clinched a post-season berth and probably is in hangover mode tonight still.  Pivetta also gets the boost of facing a RH heavy lineup that should help him out. [spacer height=”10px”] Pirates vs Cardinals Sign me up to finish this season off with my favorite over bets in Baseball.  Pirates vs Cardinals, with the added cherry on top of former Cardinal Johan Oviedo starting for Pittsburgh against Jack I suck nuts Flaherty Texas Rangers Rangers are finishing out the season with some good offense and go into a good park this time of year when other spots are getting colder. Kansas City Royals We have a couple young lefties who are hitting […]
