A thirteen game slate on a Sunday!  What a world to be alive in and this is not the sites being cute or anything, it’s just how the MLB schedule is setup today.  The night game tonight is the Mets and Giants while the Angels/Mariners is your lone tilt slate game this week.  So enjoy the chaos that is a 13 game Sunday main slate — just like old times.  Being able to write up a slate like this can be difficult.  It screams a Sunday with a million runs being scored across the league in so many hot games out there. WEATHER The wrath of Summer storms for me is usually in late June, but this year late July seems to be taking on that role.  I am fairly certain that there was some lightning bolt that nuked something down the road from me around 2am last night and if any of those type storms hit these games today then we can assume that one of these spots is getting blown up because God is sick of seeing shitty baseball.  I’m talking about you Rockies and Orioles … All that aside, every game will find a way to play today with the ones in PNC, Camden, Busch and Fenway maybe seeing a storm or two. BRANDON WOODRUFF (DK: $10,500, FD: $10,200) Woody has been nothing short or ridiculous in three starts since finally coming back from injury.  It has been Mariners-Nationals-Marlins in three starts and he draws those same Marlins again today, so he should be able to continue just coming out and pounding the zone without much problem against the lower tier teams. PAUL SKENES (DK: $10,900, FD: $10,900) Absolutely pathetic showing by the Diamondbacks thus far in PNC and with everyone being on the trade block (Naylor gone, Grichuk gone, Geno likely next) I think it’s safe to assume they’re just going through the motions which is not ideal against Paul Skenes who just isn’t getting the wins but could today. WEATHER There are more storm challenges here again tonight, with these being the riskiest spots, but likely to play. Cubs at White Sox Padres at Cardinals Rockies at Orioles TREVOR ROGERS (DK: $7900, FD: $9700) He doesn’t get talked about much on social media.  DraftKings refuses to acknowledge that he is a 10k pitcher.  Lefties cannot hit him.  Righties can only close their eyes and hope.  He is….  The most interesting, best pitcher this season nobody talks about. WEATHER Overall there’s a good amount of spots tonight that have weather to monitor, but it doesn’t appear any of them are going to be bad enough that there is a PPD Rockies at Orioles Rays at Reds Phillies at Yankees Padres at Cardinals Guardians at Royals:  This is the one divisional game on this list, so worth keeping a close eye on For a 13 game slate it’s not as sexy of a list of pitchers as we would want. SHOTA IMANAGA (DK: $9900, FD: $9700) … A little southside Chicago battle this weekend.  Why, this game is not being played in the afternoon even at the New Comiskey is beyond me. DEAN KREMER (DK: $8000, FD: $9000) … Everything in my soul says the Rockies will come in to Camden Yards and sweep the lifeless Orioles.  But the Orioles did finally wake up and win a game yesterday in Cleveland & Kremer is … well, he’s pitching well?  It’s hot, it’s humid, the ball will carry, but he is likely going to be a popular SP2 option & they are still the Rockies. We have near site synchronicity early with FanDuel not having Royals/Cubs on their ‘Early’ slate or whatever they’re calling the slate beginning at Noon.  Thankfully DK has included the 12pm window of games (there are four, shame on them if they didn’t) WEATHER All games should play. For a short slate there really is no shortage of pitching options.  I have four guys who rank as useable and my own model for some reason thinks that Michael Soroka is a viable option but hey, that’s what we call an exception to the algorithm, right?? The big four today are Strider, Cease, Lodolo and yes, Sean Manaea.  For FanDuel as a one stop shop I think you would just go with Dylan Cease for $9400 and eat the chalk which will come with him today.  For DraftKings it’s equally hard to pass on Cease, but Lodolo vs the Nationals who cannot hit lefties & Strider who gets the Giants which are always vulnerable to a shutout both should do well. LOGAN GILBERT (DK: $9200, FD: $9700) The big marquee match-up today is Jacob Misiorowski and Logan Gilbert battling in the great Northwest phone booth.  I would be shocked to see Gilbert not wind up getting the bulk of the ownership, but really don’t care either way because he’s the lock button pick for me tonight. WEATHER All Clear … SF/ATL will be delayed probably but plays. BRANDON WOODRUFF (DK: $9600, FD: 10.8k) … Woodruff has come out on fire post long injury layoff with 18 strikeouts over 10.1 IP against the Marlins and Nationals.  The Mariners are in the same range offensively when at home in T-Mobile Park, so no reason to think Woodruff can’t keep pitching well and he should be ramped up to go up to 90 pitches tonight. Well it appears FanDuel has officially moved on for the MLB season.  They have a slate posted, and honestly I used to love the all day Sunday slates, but why with the inconsistency?  Who knows.   This is the long way of saying that the 4PM games are on the MAIN slate on FanDuel. It’s just an 8 gamer on DK. WEATHER All clear GARRETT CROCHET (DK: $10.4k, FD: $10.3k) Yes, it’s a day game at Wrigley. Yes, it’s the Cubs. Doesn’t matter. Crochet is the only guy today with 25+ point upside. Don’t overthink it. JEFFREY SPRINGS (DK: $5900, FD: $8000) Springs could be considered in the ‘Sleeper’ spot today, however this is as much of a pairing with Crochet as it is his own matchup.  Cleveland’s scored 14 runs the last two games which is nice & all, but still a team that I dont believe much in offensively and definitely n ot against LHP. OTHER PITCHING THOUGHTS Bubic, Pivetta, Suarez, Gore … I think these four are going to get ownership and I think all four are in the second tier as they run into problems.  Of the group, Bubic is the most likely to be safe Andrew Heaney is tempting.  But, cmon.  White Sox definitely sweeping the Pirates.
