If you are tall, caucasion, throw right handed and like to throw really hard then please report to the pitchers mound at 4:05 PM today because apparantley there is a convention among all those guys who like to fall into the same category.  Wait, why is Tomoyuki Sugano on the mound?  Uh, sir…  You have the wrong conference. Yes, we have Strider, we have deGrom, we have Megill, we have Lorenzen, we have Rasmussen and we have Brown vs Ryan in Houston.  A who’s who of tall RHP and then you have a few lefties mixed in along with the token Asian, Mr. Sugano. JACOB deGROM (DK: $10,300, FD: $10,500) Ah yes.  Mr deGrom likely chalk against the White Sox.  What could possibly go wrong here?  We cannot play or gamble in fear, if you do then you are already losing.  the little blip that deGrom had at home vs the Jays & Cardinals where he got almost no strikeouts over 11 innings seems to be just that — a blip or a glitch in the Matrix.  The White Sox are hitting RHP okay but still have a 20%+ K rate over the last 10 days in this split & Tauchman/Meidroth have cooled off.  If there is not a 1-2-3 strike out the side inning early here I would be shocked. HUNTER BROWN (DK: $10,900, FD: $10,800) I like Ryan as well and would definitely justify using him on FanDuel for a larger discount.  These two should each have good strikeout games, and the lean has to go with Brown because when in doubt — attack the stupid Twins. TYLOR MEGILL (DK: $8300, FD: $8800) & DREW RASMUSSEN (DK: $7800, FD: $8900) I have concerns about an in game rain delay for both Rasmussen and Tylor Megill.  Otherwise, those two are your ones to take a shot on, it’s not that warm up in NYC and Rasmussen is good enough to tame the Mets.  His K upside isnt what Megill’s could be here so Megill gets the nod on my rankings, but I like them both and would only go here for a cheaper SP2.  One could justify just doing a SP game stack as well and hoping […]

WEATHER Three spots with light summer storm chances tonight, but limited PPD risk. Angels at Orioles Rays at Mets Rockies at Braves GAVIN WILLIAMS (DK: $8000, FD: $8600) In lineup projection rankings Williams draws the most favorable opponent with the weakest weighted wOBA based on the order and splits.  It’s a good pitchers park generally as well and I believe he’ll have good offense early against Castillo so there’s even good win upside here.  When he is on, Williams is a solid #2, when he is off, he just frustrates the piss out of you and has a long 50 pitch inning to ruin the night.  Weak opponents help him tremendously, so this is worth going in on Williams today. YOSHINOBU YAMAMOTO (DK: $10,600, FD: $10,000) San Francisco/L.A. will always carry some extra weight between the fan bases, but nobody on the Giants really comes out like they’re going to beat up on Yoshinobu.  He will throw the kitchen sink at them & the Giants haven’t seen him since May of last year — a combination which puts him in line to be through 5 innings tonight without any damage and upside of going 7 with 0 ER. BRYCE ELDER (DK: $7800, FD: $8500) Storms are a concern, so too is the fact that he just really isn’t that good.  Rockies aren’t really in too bad of a park shift given Atlanta’s warm weather, however, they’re still the Rockies and Maybe — Just Maybe?  Elder will repeat his last gem vs the Giants. OTHER PITCHING THOUGHTS FREDDY PERALTA … Not as good as Yamamoto but $1500 more than Williams. CLAY HOLMES … Both Holmes and Bradley are slightly tempting here as third options, facing each other.  Neither feels like a DFS winner today.   So many activities tonight … So many teams to highlight ANGELS … Baltimore side is great too PADRES … Odd that the prices here are what they are, but then the team has been kinda meh for a bit.  D’Backs pen is a problem, so could have late inning upside. WEATHER No issues tonight. LANCE McCULLERS JR (DK: $8500, FD: $9300) Lance made my top three tonight but not without some hesitation.  His last two starts have been what folks kinda remember him as, but we should caution that he is still coming off a long injury lay-off & the White Sox have been pesky.  Not to mention, they’re a RH heavy lineup and this is a RH hitters park.  For ownership purposes, I would anticipate McCullers ends up being in the top 1-3 for ownership tonight and he is being allowed to get extended rest in between starts, so I don’t think he’ll have a short 2-3 inning blow up and for that reason we’re probably smart to just take the shot on him and hope Vargas & Robert dont touch him up from the right side. CHRIS BASSITT (DK: $7700, FD: $9100) My sleeper play today.  Bassitt in a big park against a limited lefty lineup is always a favorite pick for me and I’ll bite on him being good tonight. MACKENZIE GORE (DK: $10,000, FD: $10,000) The fact that there are fairly priced second/third options here and Gore should be < 5% owned tonight makes me love this spot.  The Mets are back after a long west coast trip so now is the time to attack them.  Only downside is we have some high $ hitters that likely go off for big nights tonight.  So 10k here even with some mid tier value isn’t going to put him in the top 2. WEATHER A decent amount of storms that could threaten games today but I don’t think youre going to see any PPD.  The ones with the most impact appear to be: Rangers at Nationals Phillies at Pirates Astros at Guardians The really tough scenario is that the Philly/Pittsburgh pitching matchup is where we should be looking but weather risks are significant to cause an in game delay on Sanchez and Skenes that would knock them out and make them tough pills to swallow. My favorites today are being driven by which BATS/STACK feels like a priority and so going into the mid range with upside is preferred. TANNER BIBEE (DK: $7200, FD: $8400) … Not really a Sunday sleeper, the Astros dont have much lefty power here to get a boost with in the park.  Bibbe will be good, not great, but the 7200 price with some rain concerns elsewhere is why he is the #1 play. ZAC GALLEN (DK: $7600, FD: $8600) … Risk is heavy on Gallen in a small park — both teams coming off the mini double header yesterday and I don’t see the D’Backs getting swept. JOE RYAN (DK: $10.6k, FD: 9900) … More of a FD play.     DODGERS Gimme a nuke spot from the Dodgers studs today.  Ohtani/Freeman are the favorites for me with Muncy being a closer third.  Michael McGreevy is a 3 pitch guy, they should pick him up quickly and put up a big number today. D’BACKS Adding the D’Backs after looking through their lineup a little more.  The wrap around from Thomas at the bottom back up to Carroll/Marte/Perdomo is where I would focus on & of course a Eugenio Suarez revenge slam maybe? TWINS Ball is carrying well this weekend in Minnesota.  Their lefties are in a great spot. WEATHER The Diamondbacks and Reds should be resuming their game from yesterday and then playing todays.  There is more rain early so we should expect this one to be delayed but play. RANGER SUAREZ (DK: $8800, FD: $10.4k) It would not be fair of me to not essentially take the same stance I had with Framber Valdez on Thursday vs the Pirates here with Suarez today.   Expect this to be a low scoring 2-0 type ball game where Heaney is also viable. LOGAN WEBB (DK: $9600, FD: $10.3k) Oh, look.  It’s Logan Webb in a day game again.  Oh, look.  Logan Webb is going to give up 4 hits in the first two innings (including a lead off HR).  Oh, look.  Logan Webb finished over 100 pitches, 7+ innings and posted higher than 25 draftkings points again.  Exciting… OTHER PITCHING THOUGHTS Hunter Brown … Meh, sure.  Fine.
